Annual Passholders, Magic Key Holders, and Disney Vacation Club members all get perks for being part of their respective clubs. But, did you know there are tons of benefits to be had just from having a credit card?
That’s right, the Disney Chase Visa is a Disney-themed credit card through Chase Bank, and people love it. There are SO many ways that you can benefit from a Disney Visa. Let’s see what all the hype is about!
First things first, there are two types of Disney Chase Visa cards: The Premier Visa and the regular Disney Visa. With the Premier Visa, new cardmembers can earn up to a $300 statement credit after spending $1000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening. There is, however, a $49 annual fee.
With the regular Disney Visa, new cardmembers can earn a $150 statement credit after spending $500 on purchases in the first 3 months of account opening. With this card, there is no annual fee.
Lastly, there are differences in the amount of points you can earn between the two cards. With both versions, cardmembers can earn 1% in Disney Rewards on all purchases made with their card.
The Premier Visa has a few special extras though, like the ability to earn 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars on card purchases made at select locations (like gas stations, grocery stores, restaurants, and most Disney locations.) Premier Visa cardmembers also have the opportunity to redeem rewards dollars for a statement credit to use toward airline travel!
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s take a look at what these cards can do for you, and why people love them so much!
Disney Rewards Dollars
Okay, maybe the most important thing to talk about regarding the Disney Chase Visa is the Rewards Dollars. Cardmembers can redeem their Rewards Dollars for a lot of things, like theme park tickets, resort stays, shopping, dining, Disney movie tickets at AMC theaters, and more.
Typically, you can redeem these Rewards Dollars into a Rewards Redemption Card.
The best part? There are NO limits to the number of Disney Rewards Dollars you can earn!
Discounts
Throughout Disney World, those with a Disney Chase Visa can get discounts on things from dining, merchandise, and recreation. For dining purchases, Joffrey’s Coffee, Paddlefish, and more all offer discounts to Disney Chase Visa cardmembers.
Cardmembers can also save on select merchandise throughout the parks, and get discounts on experiences, like Disney’s Keys to the Kingdom Tour and the Starlight Safari.
In Disneyland Resort, guests with a Disney Chase Visa also have multiple ways to save. Merchandise purchases of $50 or more at select locations are eligible for 10% off.
Cardmembers can also save up to 15% off on select guided tours and 10% off at select dining locations (like Wetzel’s Pretzels or La Brea Bakery Cafe—with qualifying purchases).
On the Disney Cruise Line, Disney Chase Visa cardmembers are eligible for discounts on Photo Packages, merchandise purchases made on the cruise ship, and select onboard spa treatments.
Cardmembers can also save on other resorts, like Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa, Disney’s Vero Beach Resort, and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort.
Lastly, cardmembers have access to deals on select shows for Disney on Broadway.
Exclusive Photo Opportunities
There are also special Cardmember-exclusive photo spots to take advantage of throughout the parks. In EPCOT, there’s a private location in World Celebration where Cardmembers get to meet special characters. The best part? Complimentary downloads of your photos are included! In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a Star Wars Photo Opportunity is available in Animation Courtyard.
In Disney California Adventure, Cardmembers have a similar opportunity to meet characters and take photos in Hollywood Land — and they’ll also have access to complimentary downloads as well!
In both Disney World and Disneyland Resort, Cardmembers can find exclusive Magic Shots throughout the parks.
Vacation Financing
If you’re planning a big trip, it might benefit you to take advantage of the vacation financing that is offered for these Cardmembers.
Certain vacation packages can qualify for a promotional APR of 0% for 6 months when purchased with a Disney Visa credit card. These vacations may be to Disney World, Disney cruises, Adventures by Disney, and more.
After the promotional period is over, however, the standard APR applies.
Fun Designs
Okay, this might not seem like as big of a deal as all the savings you can get with these cards, but the designs on them are CUTE.
There are so many to choose from, including a new 100th Anniversary design!

I’ve had a Disney Premier Visa for around two decades now. A good/bad thing about the redemption card is that it is transferable – I love that I can gift my parents Disney Rewards Dollars to spend on their trips to WDW just by buying groceries and gas, and reloading the card is pretty easy when you accumulate more Reward Dollars. However, if you lose the redemption card, someone can conceivably pick it up and use it. Also, you can only have two active redemption cards at a time. If you redeem dollars for a third redemption card, one of the current two active cards is inactivated, no matter if there are Reward Dollars remaining on it or not, so watch those balances!

We have a Disney Visa. I am disappointed that the secret photo opportunities are even a secret from us! These are hard to find and we never see them. How do you find these tucked away spots?
The only thing that I like so far is that you get a discount at a few of the restaurants in Disney World. I think we got a discount at about half of the table service restaurants we ate at on our last trip. So far I can’t say I would recommend this card for the few perks you get as I think there are better cards out there.

I remember getting free stroller rentals in Disneyland back in 2006 with the card.

I love my Disney Visa to build up the Disney Dollars and use those for all our souvenirs and dining while at Disney World or Disneyland. If you are using a credit card anyway you might as well get something for using it, then when I spend my Disney Dollars in the parks it’s like getting something for free.

this is a very useful report and covered a load of things I’d often wondered about. Thank you.
One question though, do you have to be an American citizen or resident in USA to apply for one?

I’ve had the card since day 1. I have the original red card. I get more comments on it than any card I’ve ever had. Love the discounts.

I have had the Disney Visa Card for a long time and I always try to take advantage of all the perks offered. I upgraded to the Disney Premiere card a few years back and the bonus Disney Reward dollars pays for the $50 annual fee with plenty of extra dollars to make it worth it. The reward dollars are always a nice bonus to have for our trips.

I can’t find the special photo places for Cardmembers. It seems like there are several opportunities with this card that we don’t take advantage of because we can’t find it!!
