When you visit Disney World, we always tell you to check things out ahead of time BEFORE your trip.
We tell you to check park hours. We tell you to check to make sure your favorite rides aren’t closed for refurbishment. We tell you to check those restaurant menus in case some things have changed. We even tell you to make sure your favorite restaurants or snack spots aren’t closed, but sometimes a sudden closure surprises us, and that’s what’s happened today in EPCOT.
Refreshment Port is a quick-service spot near the Canada pavilion in EPCOT’s World Showcase. It usually serves up drinks, seasonal snacks, festival-exclusive items, and poutine. Well, according to the Disney World website, Refreshment Port has closed as of July 6th and will remain closed through July 26th.
That means this spot will remain closed until July 27th, which marks the first day of the EPCOT Food & Wine Festival. Now, this spot does not USUALLY close before a festival (it’s usually open between festivals), so we’re not entirely sure what’s going on here.
We wanted to check for ourselves, so we headed to EPCOT to investigate, and sure enough, Refreshment Port was locked up tight! It is definitely closed.
The menu sign has also been taken down, so now it’s just blank.
There’s no other signage indicating anything about the closure, but we asked a Cast Member about it and were told that it had something to do with the construction next to it.
So if you come to EPCOT and want some poutine, you might just be out of luck — granted, you can always order poutine at Le Cellier if you can get an advance dining reservation.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on things and let you know if anything changes, so stay tuned to DFB for more!
