Disney Parks are a vacation destination where you can escape the anxiety and stresses of day-to-day life.
But Disney Parks do still have rules you have to follow. These rules help keep that magic alive, help keep you safe and other guests and Cast Members safe, too. And yes, some of those rules even apply to park bags!
Let’s dig into some of those rules and how they might determine what type of bag you decide to take with you into the parks.
Disney Parks Bag Rule
You can check out all of the rules and guidelines for Disney Parks on their website, but here are the specifics regarding bags you can bring into the parks:
- All persons, bags, parcels, clothing, and other items may be subject to screening/security checks.
- Suitcases, bags, coolers, or backpacks, with or without wheels, larger than 24″ long x 15″ wide x 18″ high (61 cm x 38 cm x 46 cm) are not allowed in any theme park or water park. Loose or dry ice is not permitted in these containers. Re-usable ice packs are recommended.
Storage Locker
If you don’t want to carry your bags in the park all day, you can rent a locker at the front of each park:
- For $10/day Small: 12″ x 10″ x 17″
- For $12/day Large: 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″
- For $15/day Jumbo: 17″ x 22″ x 26″
At Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon Water Park Lockers
- For $10/day Standard: 12.5″ x 10″ x 17″
- For $15/day Large: 15.5″ x 13″ x 17″
Using the storage lockers is a great option for storing cumbersome items that you don’t want to lug around the parks all day, like if you’re packing your lunch for the day, rain jackets, ponchos, or umbrellas. Though you may want your rain gear handy when it does decide to rain, it is also nice not to have to go all of the way to your car, resort room, or be forced to buy them at the shops when you can just grab them from your locker.
Can You Bring Bags on Disney Attractions?
The attractions at Disney World are designed to have space so that you can bring bags with you when you ride. You can bring your bags on almost every rides at Disney World, and the coasters are no exception. If you are riding one of these attractions, and you have a bag that is bigger than a pouch (think backpack or shopping bag size), we recommend placing your bag at your feet as soon as you get onto the ride – to prevent it from moving around, falling, or damaging the contents.
If you have a fanny pack or belt bag, you could opt to keep your bag on while you ride; this will be more or less comfortable depending on the size of your bag.
On rides where you might be up high (like Soarin’), or bumping around a lot (think Avatar Flight of Passage), Disney has designated storage bins under or next to the seat where you can store your bags without either worrying about them falling off, or being lost/stolen.
Attractions with Special Locker Storage
Currently, Disney has two attractions that provide special lockers to store your bags. Kali River Rapids has lockers nearby where you can store any electronics or accessories you don’t want to get wet. If you brought a spare pair of flip-flops, you can even store your shoes to avoid traipsing around in soggy sneakers (though you can’t ride barefoot, so make sure you have those flops).
The other location is TRON Lightcyle / Run, where anything larger than a phone will need to be placed into a locker.
These lockers are free for those who ride these attractions, and there are Cast Members on hand to help you access the lockers, should you need the help.
