Summer is now in full swing at Disney World and we certainly can’t let the Disney parks have all the fun. We recently visited Disney Springs to try out a few of their offerings from Flavors of Florida and had a great time trying all the fresh new flavors.
We recently visited Disney Springs for a similar culinary demonstration with Chef José Andrés where he showed off his culinary skills and impressed us all. Can we harness the blazing Florida sun and bring the heat to the kitchen with our culinary skills like the pros? Let’s find out!
Disney Springs hosted a culinary demonstration with Wine Bar George in celebration of Flavors of Florida which is happening now through August. This was actually part of a culinary series held at Disney Springs that features several chefs and master sommeliers that have restaurants in a section of Disney Springs. And, we were lucky enough to go check it out!
We met with master sommelier George Miliotes and executive chef Will Davison of Wine Bar George to learn from the experts and get a taste of their fresh, Florida fare. We attended a live demonstration featuring the restaurant’s new Flavors of Florida offering, the Dicuru Burrata dish, and learned how the Frozen Old Fashioned is made with DOLE Whip Orange.

Throughout the culinary demonstration, we were offered valuable insight and tips to help us recreate this same dish right from our own kitchens! All of the ingredients found in this dish are sourced right from Florida farms!
So how did our culinary demo go? Well, first we got to watch as Chef Will threw together the ingredients…
…then George came up to join him and elaborated on their process a bit further. The main ingredients for this dish are small tomatoes from The Villages, Belle Glade corn, and Olde Hearth sourdough bread. They talked about choosing the right sourdough bread and its importance to the process, and how they needed to char the corn to make the flavor and sweetness really pop.
And then we got to see the finished product topped with the burrata cheese. We also learned that all burrata cheese is mozzarella cheese but not all mozzarella cheese is burrata and honestly that blew our minds!
Then, it was time to sample a bite for ourselves.
Each attendee was able to sample the Dicuru Burrata… and it was delicious. Just as George and Chef Will had talked about the sweet corn flavor went over the burrata cheese very nicely and was paired with cut tomatoes. The sourdough bread gave a good break to the sweet flavors and complimented the rest of the dish very well.
If you happened to miss this culinary demonstration and wanted to try the Dicuru Burrata, no worries, it’s on the menu at Wine Bar George. You can order your own full portion for $19. If you really dig this kind of experience and want to catch one (or all) of the remaining in their Flavors of Florida summer series at Disney Springs, you can visit their website for more information and how to register for each event.
