There are plenty of ways your Disney World trip may not exactly go as planned.
Those intense summer thunderstorms might make you miss a ride, maybe you chose the absolute wrong pair of shoes to wear (protip: never wear new shoes to the parks), or perhaps a show you were looking forward to gets canceled. And, if you’re staying in a Disney World hotel, there’s something else you might need to be worried about.
Disney’s Riviera Resort is a deluxe hotel that was built in 2019, and according to Disney it’s “inspired by the grandeur of Europe, but reimagined à la Disney magic.” It’s a popular spot due to how new it is, the deluxe vibes, the stellar restaurant lineup, and oh yeah — it’s on the Skyliner route. But, if you’ve got an upcoming stay at this spot there’s something you might want to be prepared for!
Riviera Resort will be undergoing fire alarm testing from now through August 1st. According to the sign we spotted, there will be an “audible, intermittent fire alarm” between 10:30AM and 3:30PM. Cast Members may also need to enter guest rooms to conduct the testing.
Sounds like the perfect excuse to plan a trip to the parks or the resort pool during those hours! Though, if you’ve got little ones that need to nap — this could prove to be a bit difficult. Consider switching nap times (if that won’t cause a nuclear meltdown) or sticking your kid on a pool chair (with plenty of sunscreen, shade, and hydration) while you’re living your dream.
You can always check with a Cast Member to see if there are any other options available if this will disrupt your stay. They’ll try their best to accommodate, but be prepared for alarms!
Keep this in mind if you’re planning a Disney World trip — you never know what sort of interruptions you might find. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all the latest news that could impact your stay, so stay tuned to DFB for more!

I am here at the Riviera now and the alarm testing is no big deal. First, they knock on your door and announce themselves. If you let them in, it takes about two minutes for them to test your alarm and then they are back out the door again.
I am sure if you had a sleeping child they would return at another time.
