Sometimes when you’re planning a Disney vacation less is more, or at least, best.
With so many options to explore narrowing down where you’re looking to eat, stay, and how much you want to spend in the parks may seem like tedious work. What if we told you there was a way you could narrow down your options just a bit further to make vacationing more simple?
We get it, Disney World vacations can get complicated quickly, and sometimes you just want to reign in the chaos. While park hopping till you drop might sound like a good thing in theory, in practice, you could find it overwhelming, especially with kids.
It usually doesn’t take too much to wear kids (and adults) out during a day at the parks but if you could control the variables, would you? Most of the time, if you HAD to choose just one park, people tend to tell us that Magic Kingdom is their pick (settle down EPCOT stans, we see you), but hear us out.
This one park has MOST of what people come to see, right? There’s tons of rides and attractions (definitely the most with little kid appeal), stage shows, and parades.
There are also plenty of characters to meet and greet like the princesses at Fairytale Hall…
…and Peter Pan out in the park. There’s even fireworks nightly to close out your entire day’s experience, which can be seen from around the surrounding hotels and even the transportation back to the parking lot at the TTC.
There are character dining meals like Crystal Palace inside the park or a short walk or monorail ride over to Chef Mickey’s, that will keep you fed and entertained in the same proximity. So here’s what we’re saying. Sometimes, it’s ok NOT to disclose to your kids that Disney World extends to more parks than just Magic Kingdom.
We’ve even heard Magic Kingdom referred to as “Disney” or “Disney World” on several occasions while visiting the parks ourselves — so it’s not too far-fetched to see the misconception. Doing Disney vacations with kids is hard enough without having to balance out different tastes and interests across so many parks.
So, maybe the best solution for your first trip to Disney World with littles is to JUST go to Magic Kingdom. Spending multiple days there will allow for afternoon breaks for naps, pool time — because what kid doesn’t love a swimming pool?, early bed times, and just a generally more relaxed pace. We recently had friends take little kids to Disney World, and this strategy worked out SO well for them!
You can save the other parks for when they are older. Really! However, if this is a practice you look to adapt, we’ve thought of a few of the problems you could run into.
If Magic Kingdom is “Disney World” and that’s the story you’re sticking to, we could see where you might fumble over questions about advertisements about the other parks like EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Billboards, moving screens, merchandise that comes from the other parks, and even themed buses could give your secret away– or at least make you fend off a few questions from some of the older kids you’re traveling with.
There’s also the conflicted feelings you could be feeling over omitting the truth just to ease your own comforts, but don’t worry– your secret would be safe with us. Whichever route you decided is best for your family (and sanity) while vacationing at Disney, we support it.
We research new tips and tricks to save you time and money while WINNING your next Disney trip all the time, so for the latest in updates be sure to check back in with us at Disney Food Blog.

Thank you for the outstanding information. It was very helpful during our most recent visit to Disney(July 12-18) as we were researching the best places for dinner and snack locations. We had some great meals and snacks because of you. 🙏.
