Y’all, if you love to eat and love feeling like you’re on a wilderness expedition while doing so, then we have great news for you.
In January of 2023, Disney announced that Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground would close for refurbishment. In the past, the restaurant served family-style skillets for breakfast and dinner, and was a fan-favorite choice for many Disney World visitors. Trail’s End has been closed since February, but not for much longer!
Yep, Disney just announced that Trail’s End Restaurant and Crockett’s Tavern are set to reopen on July 27th, 2023, featuring a new look AND some new food. Let’s check it out!
Disney says that both dining locations will have a “fresh, new look that enhances the resort’s quaint charm and honors its heritage at the heart of the Walt Disney World Resort, with warm wooden furnishings, beamed ceilings, and rustic accents.” Check out Trail’s End’s new look!
Now, let’s talk about food. Trail’s End has been reimagined to a quick-service restaurant. The marketplace concept now includes a pizza station where you can customize your own pie. You can also grab Market-style selections (like cold sandwiches or the Chicken Wrap or the Pioneer Berry Salad) or Hot Grab and Go selections (like pecan-smoked chicken, a rack of pork ribs, and even brisket!)
Sides will include macaroni & cheese, plant-based cowboy beans, and mashed potatoes.
You can also order entrees like cheeseburgers, plant-based vegetable burgers, chicken nuggets, and french fries. Homestyle Meals will also be available and will feature cornbread, coleslaw, and mashed potatoes with gravy and your choice of half a slab of barbecued ribs or two pieces of fried chicken. Of course, there will also be coffee and hot beverage options!
Dessert options include Banana Pudding, Carrot Cake Cupcake, Blueberry Bread Pudding, and the legendary Strawberry Shortcake from Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue, and Lemon-Blueberry Trifle.
The pastry team has created even more treats, like Fort Fruity Cookie featuring fruity cereal and white chocolate chips or the Peanut Butter and Jelly Cupcake. There will also be a S’more Cupcake and S’more cookie.
What do you think? Will you be swinging by to try any of the new eats and sips on July 27th? Be on the lookout for the new items coming to Crockett’s Tavern, which has been transformed into a lounge. We’ll continue to keep you updated with any and all Disney news, so make sure to follow along for more!

Robert Hoffman says
Disappointed Trails End Restaurant was transformed into a quick service restaurant. The old buffet was awesome. Disney ruined it.

Walt said that the parks would change, but I don’t believe he meant for them to be solely for increased revenue at the expense of killing the magic.

I agree with Mr. Hoffman, but think this final rendition is a little better than I feared it would be. We will go check it out. We will miss the pulled pork Eggs Benedict for breakfast the most. Glad we can still get their excellent fried chicken in the family pack! I just hope they retain the portrait of Fess Parker as Davy Crockett and Ol’ Betsy, the Kentucky rifle Fess Parker used in the Davy Crockett movies in the tavern. Fess Parker was a serious looking frontiersman in that painting. This is part of my “ritual” when we go there, to stop in and say hello to Davy, King of the Wild Frontier.
BTW, this is what Iger doesn’t get; the emotional connection to Walt and the traditional family oriented Disney of our youth, up until just a few years ago.

Such a bummer that the buffet has been taken away. At least, you can still order the fried chicken.

Awesome!!!!! We hope Ken is still there. We always looked forward to his excitement when he waited on us. He had been there for a long time. This is great news!
Jim says
I’m going to give it a try next time I’m at WDW.

AJ, no mention of breakfast?
