If you thought we were done eating our way around the 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival, you would be wrong!
Now that this deliciously entertaining festival has officially begun, we’ve started making our way around the food booths with tasty items, checking out the merchandise, and figuring out which concerts we just can’t miss. We know it sounds overwhelming, but we’re here to help make sure you know what to get and what to skip. And now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Australia booth — to give you the FULL scoop! Is it worth a try? Let’s find out!
Menu
Over at the Australia booth, you’ll find a variety of available items. All the items are returning this year, including the Grilled Sweet-and-Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pepper, Onion, Snap Peas, and Coconut-Chili Sauce, and the Roasted Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies. It’s time to get meaty.
Now that we’ve taken a look at the menu, let’s dive into the food itself!
Eats
First up, we tried the Grilled Sweet-and-Spicy Bush Berry Shrimp with Pepper, Onion, Snap Peas and Coconut-Chili Sauce for $6.75. In the past, this entree had a bit of a kick, and we really loved how everything went together with the spicy shrimp flavor. Especially the snap peas!
We enjoyed this dish again this year, but if you ask us, we prefer the shrimp you can get over at the Kenya Booth. It’s got a lot of berry flavors, and there’s a tiny bit of heat which adds some excitement. The snap peas on the side have an incredible snap and were surprisingly refreshing.
Next, we had the Roasted Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies for $8.75. This has been one of our favorites at the festival. It’s juicy and flavorful, and as a bonus — it’s also gluten and wheat friendly.
Again, we found this to be super, super tasty. The lamb is super tender and our reporter who had this doesn’t even particularly like lamb. It wasn’t too gamey, and that mint pesto makes a heavy piece of meat almost refreshing. The potato chips were a fun added crunch as well — this is really an amazing dish.
And finally, we finished things off with something sweet — Lamington. This is a Yellow Cake with Raspberry Filling with Chocolate and Coconut for $4.50. When we had this last year, the cakes were really dense, while also being incredibly moist.
The same is true this year — the cake was so, so moist, and the icing isn’t super overwhelming. Our reporter who tried this isn’t a big fan of chocolate, coconut, or icing, and still didn’t mind the outside of this cake. The raspberry is a super thin layer, but that made this dessert really balanced as opposed to any strong flavors.
It wouldn’t be the Australia booth without drinks!
Drinks
We typically see a selection of beer and wines here, but this year it’s just wine on the menu! Grab the Yalumba ‘The Y Series’ Viognier, South Australia for $6.50. We tried this as part of a flight last year when it was new and thought it was quite dry, and by the time we got to drink it, it was incredibly warm from the Florida heat.
You can also grab the Château Tanunda Grand Barossa Shiraz, Barossa Valley, Australia for $6. So, what’s the verdict on Australia this year?
Overall
Stop by the Australia booth if you’re looking for some hearty dishes that will keep you full.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
