This is your official warning that reading this post may cause you to book a trip to EPCOT ASAP and order some colorful mimosas that’ll make everyone around you jealous.
Oh…you’re still here? Alright, well then let’s go over ALL the details you need to know. The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has begun, and that means we’ve got lots of eats and drinks to grab, merchandise items to check out, and entertainment to see. But now we’re heading to one spot in particular — the Shimmering Sips booth — to let you know what items here are worth your visit!
Menu
Over at the Shimmering Sips booth, you’ll find, well, mostly sips! You can get a guava cake here (which has changed from what we’ve had before), along with various mimosas, and a mimosa flight(!). This is also the spot where you’ll get your completer prize if you get enough qualifying dishes in the cheese crawl (Emile’s Fromage Montage).
Now that we’ve taken a quick look at the menu, let’s get into the full review of what you can get here.
Eats
First up, we tried the only treat available to purchase here. It’s a plant-based Guava Cake with whipped cream and coconut. This is a plant-based item that costs $4.75.
Last year, this dish was VERY different. In 2022, it was a guava mousse (not cake) on a sugar cookie with coconut-lime whipped cream. The 2022 version of this snack was a BIG favorite of ours. But, unfortunately, 2023 has brought some significant changes to this item and our opinion of it.
This year, we found the Guava Cake to be…well…let’s just say it’s NOT something we’d try again. You could definitely tell that this is a plant-based dish largely due to the cake texture itself. It was very dense and sort of becomes gummy in your mouth.
Plant-based eaters might be much more used to the texture of the cake, but if you aren’t a plant-based eater or aren’t a fan of that gummy texture, steer clear. We also were disappointed in the fact that the cake didn’t really have any guava flavor. We only got a hint of that guava sweetness from the little drizzle on top of the whipped cream.
Now that we’ve gone through the dessert here, let’s talk about those mimosas!
Drinks
As you might have guessed, there are quite a few drinks on this menu! We got the Mimosa Flight for $14 which comes with three mimosas. This is the type of item that’ll REALLY turn heads. It’s one of those things that’ll sit on your table and draw the attention of all the adults around you (they may even start to ask where you got that) — so be prepared to be a bit of a mimosa star!
New this year is the Berry Mimosa with Berry Fizz Sparkling Wine and White Cranberry Juice, which you can get by itself for $7 (we got ours with the flight). While this wasn’t our favorite, we heard that quite a few people were partial to this one. To us, this mimosa tasted a little like a cranberry and grape juice combination, though a little more elevated than that. It wasn’t bad, just not the best of the bunch (to us).
A Blood Orange Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Blood Orange Juice is also available for $7 on its own (we got ours with the flight). Last year, we felt like it was bitter on the first sip, but you did get that orange on the back end. If you like drinks that aren’t necessarily sweet, we think this could be a good pick for you. This year, we really felt like it captured that Blood Orange flavor — which, again, can be great if you like that. But heads up — this does have pulp, which can be offputting for some!
You can also get the Tropical Mimosa with Sparkling Wine and Minute Maid® Passion Fruit, Orange, and Guava Juices for $7 on its own (we got it as part of the flight). Yes, this is basically a POG Juice Mimosa — what’s not to love?! For us, this was the BEST mimosa out of the flight last year, and once again it was our favorite this year. It was refreshing, fruity, tangy, sweet, and has a bit of zing to it, which we loved.
All three of these are good mimosas. We might just stick to getting a single serving of our favorite of the three (rather than the flight) but if you aren’t sure which one you’ll like best, want to try 2 of the 3, or just want to grab some drinks to share (and then maybe come back later to order your favorite one separately), the flight is the way to go!
Another option here is the Beer Mimosa, featuring Boulevard Brewing Co. Berry Noir Sour Ale and Sparkling Wine for $9. When we had this last year, we felt like you got a bit of that hoppy and beer flavor up front, with some champagne on the back end. The berry flavor, however, was very faint. We think this could be a good drink in the fall or for those who want a mix of the flavors of beer and champagne.
This booth is where you can also get the CORKCICLE Stemless Flute if you want a fancy souvenir!
It is priced at $24.
Overall
If you’re a mimosa fan, THIS is the booth for you! That mimosa flight is bright, flavorful, fun, and overall a good buy. Or, you can opt to get just one or two of your favorites from the bunch. The guava cake, unfortunately, is not something we’d recommend this year though.
That’s it for this booth, but there’s a LOT more where that came from!
