If there’s one challenge we’ll gladly accept, it’s taking on a Disney CHEESE CRAWL. Eat a bunch of cheese? No problem. Win a PRIZE at the end? We’re sold.
The 2023 EPCOT Food & Wine Festival has officially begun, and there’s so much to do! There are tons of tasty eats to try, souvenirs to purchase, and even concerts to watch. But one of our favorite parts about this festival is Emile’s Fromage Montage, or — as we call it –the cheese crawl. Come check it out!
Emile’s Fromage Montage is an EPCOT challenge that only comes around during Food & Wine time. To participate, you’ll buy any 5 of the featured dishes in the “crawl,” and then once you’ve collected the 5 corresponding stamps, you’ll get a special prize. There are lots of items to pick from, but you only need to buy 5 in order to get your prize.
First, pick up a Festival Passport. These are free, and you can grab one at either entrance to EPCOT. (If you don’t see them, ask a Cast Member or stop by guest relations.) Make sure that you get your Festival Passport stamped each time you buy a qualifying item.
Here’s a look at the items that’ll qualify for the cheese crawl:
- India — Curry-Spiced Crispy Cheese with Mango-Curry Ketchup
- Germany — Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions and Cheese
- Greece — Griddled Cheese with Pistachios and Honey
- Brazil — Pão de Queijo: Brazilian Cheese Bread
- Canada — Canadian Cheddar and Bacon Soup served with a Pretzel Roll
- Flavors from Fire — Smoked Corned Beef with House-Made Potato Chips, Cheese Curds, Pickled Onions and Beer-Cheese Fondue
- Hawai’i (Opening August 15th) — Passion Fruit Cheesecake with Toasted Macadamia Nuts
- The Alps — Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette; Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Baby Potatoes, Cornichons and Baguette
- Spain — Charcuterie with a selection of imported Spanish Meats, Cheeses, Olives and an Herb Vinaigrette
- Wine & Wedge (Opening later this fall) — Assorted Artisanal Cheeses and Accoutrements; Fig and Balsamic Boursin® Soufflé with Fig Tapenade; Southern Pimento Cheese with Bread-and-Butter Pickled Vegetables and Grilled Bread
First, we tried the Curry-Spiced Crispy Cheese with Mango-Curry Ketchup from India for $5.25. This is a favorite of ours, but really, you can’t go wrong with cheese at all! We did think these were a little saltier than normal, but we still enjoyed it!
Next up, we got the Griddled Cheese with pistachios and honey from Greece for $5. We’ve had this before, but this year, the cheese (which is goat cheese) is VERY rich, but we liked it. It’s cheese, y’all. Of course we liked it.
Our third item was the Smoked Corned Beef with house-made potato chips, cheese curds, pickled onions, and beer-cheese fondue from Flavors From Fire for $6.50. This is an old favorite, and we will ALWAYS order it when it’s available. We love all the textures in this dish, and well, the cheese was AMAZING. It’s still one of the best options at the festival!
Almost there! Next, we tried the the Warm Raclette Swiss Cheese with Alpine Ham, Baby Potatoes, Cornichons, and a Baguette from The Alps for $5.75. Although this item is 25 cents more expensive than last year, we still found it very filling and delicious as always! We don’t mean to be cheesy (okay, we do), but this is cheesiness at its finest!
The final item in our cheese crawl this year was the Schinkennudeln: Pasta Gratin with Ham, Onions and Cheese from Germany for $5. We’ve loved this in the past, but this year, we didn’t feel as impressed by it. If you are a baked mac ‘n’ cheese fan, though, you might love this. We also think this is one of the festival offerings kids will like. But the portion size is smaller this year and it was also a little greasier.
Our passport is full of stamps, so now let’s go to Shimmering Sips to collect our prize!
This year, the prize was Strawberry Cheesecake Soft Serve topped with a Mini Cheesecake and Graham Cracker Crumbs in a Specialty Cup. Yes, the price is CHEESE CAKE! We just won at life!
Our reporter doesn’t even like cheesecake, but LOVED this prize. It tastes like what we think strawberry milk would taste like if it were soft-serve (because strawberry milk tastes nothing like strawberry ice cream, so this is even better). The little cheesecake on top is so cute, too and we loved that crunch from the graham crackers. The serving size is nice, as well — the perfect dessert.
So what do we think? Is the cheese crawl worth the prize? Well, if you love cheese, the answer is “YES!” Who doesn’t need an excuse to eat a TON of cheese and get cheesecake in a fun souvenir cup as a reward? Isn’t that just #lifegoals? So even though we technically paid about $28 for this prize (if you add up the price of all the items in the cheese crawl), we thought it was 100% worth it, especially since we enjoyed all of the items that were in the crawl.
Remember that you don’t have to pick the five items that we chose! You can choose from any of the cheesy snacks listed in your Festival Passport that are marked “Emile’s Fromage Montage.” Note that some of the items that qualify are at booths that don’t open until later on — the Hawai’i booth opens on August 15th, and Wine & Wedge won’t open until later this fall.

We completed the Fromage Montage last year and enjoyed the prize. The cup is now my stemless wine cup at home. 😉

If you get 2 of the same item do you get 2 stamps or do they have to be all different items?
