Part of the fun of a Disney trip is seeing all our favorite characters.
Yes, we will hug Mickey EVERY chance we can get. We also love seeing his friends, like Donald and Daisy. We love seeing characters wandering around the parks, too. Now, though, it seems like two NEW characters may be headed to the Disney parks soon, and we can’t wait!
We have a pretty good clue that these two new characters may be appearing soon because Disney recently posted some audition notices online. The first is Joe Gardner from Soul. According to the casting call, Joe will be appearing in Disneyland, but he’ll be played by actual jazz pianists, meaning Joe may be playing some live music for guests!
Disney is looking for a performer who can “play proficiently in the solo piano jazz style,” as well as “be able to engage with guests within the story of the film.” How fun! This sounds like it’s going to be a very cool — dare we say JAZZY — character to interact with in Disneyland.
But there’s also a new character coming to Disney World. Disney posted an audition notice in Disney World for Asha, who is the new character starring in the upcoming animated film Wish! The casting call is for Asha look-alikes with “with warm, engaging, and outgoing personalities.”
Asha is also described in the notice as “a driven, incredibly smart, sharp-witted 17-year-old who believes in the power of wishes and cares endlessly about her community of Rosas. Asha is an idealist and a leader in the making, even if she doesn’t recognize that just yet.”
We’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for more announcements about these characters, and we’ll be sure to let you know when you will be able to see them in the parks, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I didn’t realize the Character Audition stuff was so blatantly “We want you to play this character”- I had always heard they were very vague about descriptions and that it’d be “Character Performer” tests and you often wouldn’t even know which character you were up for (which made a lot of girls unnecessarily waste their time as they were too tall/short for Tinker Bell, Cinderella, etc.).
