It’s about to get pricier to watch your favorite Disney movies!
Disney released its earnings report for the third quarter of the 2023 fiscal year and held an earnings call to discuss the report. We heard some updates about Disney’s theme parks, how the company is doing financially as a whole, and some news on its entertainment division. Improving streaming and Disney+ is a “number on priority,” according to Bob Iger, CEO of the company, and unfortunately, prices will be increasing.
In the earnings call, Disney shared that it would be increasing prices on almost all of its streaming services in an attempt to aid profitability. The ad-free tier of Disney+ will raise to $13.99 per month starting on October 12th, 2023. Fortunately, the commercial-based tier will remain the same.
Similarly, they will be raising the cost of Hulu without commercials to $17.99 per month — but the ad-supported version will remain at its current price.
Disney will also be adding an ad-free bundled plan for those who want a subscription to Hulu and Disney+ together, which will debut on September 6th, 2023. This new “premium duo” plan will be $19.99 per month, a $12 per month discount compared to having those subscriptions separately.
Disney shared that they are expecting growth financially for Disney+ in Q4, so we will have to wait and see what this new subscription pricing does.

Why is it prices keep rising, wages don’t, nut CEO’s salaries do. Astronomically?
