HOLD UP! If you’re looking to get on one of Disney World’s newest attractions, things might not be as easy as you expect.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is the newest coaster to open in Magic Kingdom, but you can’t just walk on it. During regular park hours, the ride is ONLY accessible via a virtual queue or Individual Lightning Lane (a.k.a. there is NO standby line). Does that change at all during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? What rules do you need to follow if you want to get on this ride during the spookiest party at Disney World? We’re breaking it all down for you.
If you are looking to get on the TRON ride while at Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, here’s what you need to know.
First, the ride will NOT have a standby queue during the party. Instead, it will continue to have a virtual queue (just like what it has during the regular daytime hours). Traditionally, there are 2 chances to join the virtual queue each day — one at 7AM (you do NOT need to be in Magic Kingdom) and one at 1PM (you do need to be in Magic Kingdom).
BUT if you’ve got a ticket for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, you’ll actually have ANOTHER chance to join the virtual queue. That additional chance will become available at 6PM. We were able to snag one with no problem, but we made sure to hop on the app and join the queue right at 6PM.
Even though we were ready right at 6PM, we were in group 170, so a lot of people were also joining the queue at the same time. We’re expecting it to sell out, so get your spot reserved ASAP!
UPDATE: By 7:30PM EST, the TRON virtual queue was full for the night.
Keep in mind that each person can only join the virtual queue ONCE per event, and this special 6PM time will ONLY be open to those with Halloween Party tickets. Before attempting to join the virtual queue, make sure your Halloween Party tickets are linked to your My Disney Experience account.
If you are going to try to join at 6PM, note that you do NOT need to be in Magic Kingdom at 6PM to join, so don’t worry about that. Just keep in mind that your Halloween Party ticket does allow you to enter Magic Kingdom as early as 4PM should you choose to do so! The Party itself won’t kick off until 7PM and will last through midnight.
Those are the key things you’ll need to keep in mind when it comes to riding TRON via a virtual queue at the Halloween Party. For more information about the Halloween Party, click here to see our FULL page all about it! And stay tuned for the latest Disney news.

Will you be trying to ride TRON during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party? Tell us in the comments!
Toni Larkin says
So, will one be able to purchase an individual lighting lane for party hours?
Dottyanna says
Please let us know how long you had to wait to ride once your boarding group was called. We are afraid of spending the whole party in line for Tron, but really want to ride it since we haven’t experienced it yet.
Thank you!
DFB Gigi says
Hi Toni! No, it’s virtual queue only since Genie+ is not utilized during the party.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Dottyanna! Once the boarding group was called the wait was about 15-20 minutes in line so not bad at all.
Melissa says
If you are in the park during the day and are staying for the party, can you reserve a ride for the day and then try to reserve one for during the party.
Eleanor says
Can my spouse and I both be trying at 6 if everyone in our group is linked? I don’t want us both trying to kick us out of the app process.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Eleanor! I would recommend just one of you trying to get the virtual queue because the app can glitch if more than one person who are linked are trying at the same time and you may not get one.
Tyler says
Sorry but this info is wrong. If you ONLY have a Not So Scary Halloween ticket then you can only join the 6pm queue. You cannot join the 7am or 1pm queue unless you have a valid park ticket/pass for the day.
Robyn says
About what time that evening was your boarding group 170 called? Do they give you a time as soon as you book?
