Okay, so let’s chat about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. We came, we saw, we ate, we conquered.
There was a LOT going on with the first party, and we are WIPED. But we’re going to grab some caffeine and talk to you about some of the things we think you need to know if you’re headed to one of the parties soon. So let’s talk about some important warnings so you’re not surprised when you go to the party.
It may not be a good time to ride TRON Run /Lightcycle
Tron Lightcycle / Run is available to ride during the party, but there is no standby line and no Individual Lightning Lane that you can buy. Instead, it’s only available via a virtual queue that you’ll have to try and get right at 6PM, the official start time of the party.
If you don’t grab that virtual queue slot fast, you’re going to miss out. During the first party, the queue was full by 7:30PM. So it only took about an hour and a half to get a time slot to ride the attraction.

Genie+ is not available
Also, you’ll need to know that Genie+ is not available during the party. This is something we already knew going in, but guests do need to be aware of that. Rides other than TRON Lightcycle / Run are standby only, so you might have to wait in line to ride any attractions during the event.
The good news is that the party is a limited-ticketed event, meaning that the lines for rides shouldn’t be that long (especially as people are generally scattered about with all the party activities and entertainment, too).

Mobile order is not available
Another thing we knew about before heading to the party, but that we think you should be aware of is that mobile ordering is not available during the party. If you want to pick up a quick bite to eat or indulge in the party’s exclusive snacks, you’ll need to stand in line to place your order.
Again, this is a limited-ticketed event, so those lines for food shouldn’t be too long.

You may have to give up valuable party time if you want to meet Jack and Sally
If one of your priorities is to meet Jack and Sally (and this is the ONLY opportunity you will have to meet them in Disney World), you’re going to end up spending MUCH of your party time standing in line to meet those two. This is one of the most popular meet and greets at the party.
At one point during the evening, the wait for Jack and Sally was up to three hours. If that’s not a priority for you and your group, you might want to skip that meet and greet to do other things at the party.
What the 2023 Crowds Look Like at a Sold-Out Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Disney World
Your candy and ice cream will probably melt
One problem with these parties, particularly the ones in the summer, is that it’s very hot and humid out. Honestly, we’re always impressed when people show up in full costume because they have to be SWEATING. However, this brings up another big problem. All that chocolate candy being handed out at the treat stations? Well, it’s going to melt.
This also applies to any ice cream treats you might get — they’ll likely melt before you’ve taken your first two bites. Ice cream soup, anyone? So keep that in mind because things can get rather messy with melted treats.

Characters may not be available later in the evening
So this isn’t something that ALWAYS happens, but it is something to be aware of just in case. We noticed that many of the lines for character meet and greets (those meeting in stationary locations) were being cut off at 11PM, two hours before the party actually ends. This doesn’t ALWAYS happen, but if lines start to get long, it COULD happen.
We noticed this specifically at the line for the Seven Dwarfs, a highly popular character meet and greet. If you want to meet characters at the party, we recommend hopping in those lines earlier in the evening.

You only have one chance to catch the fireworks
You’ll have two opportunities to catch the party-exclusive Boo-To-You parade and several chances to see the Hocus Pocus Villains Spelltacular show. However, if you want to see the fireworks, there’s only one performance every night.
If the fireworks are a priority, make sure you’re ready to see them at 10:15PM.

Ginger Green says
You say we can get in the virtual virtual que for Tron at 6, tje official party tone start, but doesn’t the party officially start at 7?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Ginger! Yes, the party officially starts at 7pm, but you can actually get in at 4pm with a party ticket. 🙂
Stacey says
Can I purchase an LL for tron for the ‘pre-party’ time from 4 to 6? Or would I need a regular park pass?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Stacey! You would need a park pass in order to book a TRON Lightning Lane pre-party.
Janet says
We went to the Halloween party on 10/22/23 and observed many people getting on rides through the lighting lane.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Janet! Sometimes the Lightning Lanes are used for those who have DAS so that may have been why you were seeing people in that line. 🙂
Joe says
I don’t think it was DAS in the LL during our not so scary trip. One of the people in the standby line asked a cast member and they said LL was available but directly through the attraction if you had arrived early. This might’ve also been the reason for the lengthy guest services line at the start of the party.
This was a truly sour note for us at our visit. The LL made it impossible to do popular attractions/meet and greets because it extended he standby line significantly. What a waste of time for us.
DFB Gigi says
Was this before 7pm?
