We’ve eaten a LOT of food in Disney World over the years. But even after thousands of different items, there are still some things that remain on our list of favorites.
If you’ve followed us for a while, you probably know that we’re big fans of the Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey’s Corner and the Cheeseburger Spring Rolls at the spring roll cart. We love a good Dole Whip and the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese at Flame Tree Barbecue is a must-get. But above almost anything else, there’s one thing we’re OBSESSED with…and that’s plastic cheese!
Plastic cheese is our affectionate name for the little cups of cheese sauce you can find at some quick service spots around Disney World. It’s NOT the same as the cheese sauce that you get prepackaged when you buy a Mickey pretzel — it has a richer cheesy flavor and it’s usually served warm instead of cold and goopy.
It’s not actually plastic, either. That’s just a name that we came up with because it looks so smooth and fake once it’s poured into the cup. But it’s absolutely delicious for dipping your French fries or corn dog nugs.
If you’re a plastic cheese fanatic, too (or you really want to become one!), we’ve rounded up a list of all the places where you can currently find it in Disney World. And the best part? A cup of plastic cheese is only ONE DOLLAR.
Magic Kingdom
Starting out at Magic Kingdom, there are currently two places where you can find this cheesy goodness. The obvious first spot is at Casey’s Corner, right at the end of Main Street, U.S.A. Years ago there was a self-serve plastic cheese pump on the toppings bar here at Casey’s Corner, but alas, those days are long gone. Instead, you’ll need to order it as a side with your meal to get it now.
The other spot where you can purchase plastic cheese in Magic Kingdom is The Friar’s Nook! Here, they serve loaded tater tots, as well as tots on their own. So if you’d like, you can order some plain tots and get some cheese sauce to dip them in. Yummy!
If you’re heading to The Lunching Pad, we’ve got to issue you a warning — the cheese sauce on their menu is not the beloved plastic cheese, but instead, the prepackaged cheese sauce that comes with a pretzel order. If you get it expecting to have the good stuff, you’ll be disappointed!
(Oh, and P.S. It’s not plastic cheese, but you can also buy queso for $1 at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe. Do with that information what you will!)
Hollywood Studios
You may think that Magic Kingdom is the hub for plastic cheese, but you’d be surprised by the sheer amount of cheesy deliciousness that can be found at Hollywood Studios! The first spot you can get the famous sauce here is at Backlot Express.
You’ll also find plastic cheese at Dockside Diner, Rosie’s All-American Cafe, and Woody’s Lunch Box. That’s four spots in total! Each of these places offers things that would go well with the cheese, like hot dogs, fries, or tater tots.
At each of these spots, you can get plastic cheese either when placing your order at the counter, or through Mobile Order on the My Disney Experience app.
Those are all 6 places where you can currently find plastic cheese in Disney World. Surprisingly, it’s not on the menu at any restaurants in EPCOT or Animal Kingdom, and it’s absent from the resorts and Disney Springs as well. You’ll have to hit Magic Kingdom or Hollywood Studios to enjoy this beloved treat!

Wish they would bring back the self serve plastic cheese. Nothing like a burger and fries covered in plastic cheese!!

I guess I’m just not a plastic cheese fan….. Useful stuff for sticking handbills on telephone poles, but for eating?!
…… But Florida is filled with many strange food items including hush puppies and dishpan mullet fish…. And so I say to each their own !
