Remember when Disney took away the beloved Wendell’s Bear Claw treat from Frontierland? We went through a whole dramatic saga — including the five stages of grief — when it was taken off the menu. If you’re confused, imagine if McDonald’s took your favorite food off the menu. You’d be pretty sad, too!

Well, the time has come once again — Disney took one of our absolute FAVORITE treats off the menu at Contempo Cafe, and we’re not sure we’ll ever recover from this major foodie blow. Read on if you dare.

Contempo Cafe has been home to some of our favorite sweets for a looooong time. In fact, the Peanut Butter Pie at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is one of those treats that never let us down, even when it got a 50th Anniversary update.

We LOVE the Peanut Butter Pie

This little pie has been through several iterations throughout its lifetime, but we’ve loved it all the same every time.

Fourth of July Peanut Butter Pie

At first, it was a tart shell filled with vanilla cream and a generous scoop of peanut butter cream cheese filling topped with chocolate ganache drizzle. Then later, the peanut butter filling was put inside the tart shell as a replacement for the vanilla cream. Like we said, though, we’ve been loyal fans since the beginning. Seriously, Disney Food Blog and the Peanut Butter Pie go WAY back — we’re talking the days of FREE FastPass+.

Well, during a recent visit to Disney’s Contemporary Resort, we tried several new menu items. But in the midst of our excitement, a horrible thought crossed our minds: what about the old Peanut Butter Pie?! It was nowhere to be seen.

We searched the bakery cases and scoured the area, finally consulting a Cast Member to get to the bottom of the disappearance. A Cast Member informed us that the Peanut Butter Pie is now gone from Contempo Cafe. It was apparently replaced by other desserts and is not expected to return.

Of course, Disney may still decide to bring it back one day (they brought back Happily Ever After, after all!), but for now, it seems our old favorite is gone. Yes, we are devastated. No, we are not being overdramatic.

RIP to the Peanut Butter Pie

For now, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that this dessert returns someday. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.
