There are lots of things in Disney World that can take up a lot of time.
Waiting in line is one of the biggest, but eating at a table-service location can also take up a lot of your park day. However, there are some things that take up far too much time, and they’re a TOTAL waste of time — don’t fall for these tricks in Disney World!
Getting in Line For An Outdoor Ride…When A Storm is On The Way
Outdoor rides in Disney World will close when there’s inclement weather in the area — specifically lightning within a certain number of miles. The rides won’t reopen again until the weather has passed. This means that if you get in line for an outdoor ride when a storm is about to start…well, you can imagine how that ends.
You could end up spending over half an hour in line for a ride that you have to wait even longer to ride thanks to rain (plus, if it’s an outdoor queue, you might get soaked). So be sure to download a weather app on your phone (like AccuWeather or WeatherBug) and check the radar before you get in line for an outdoor ride.
Your Child is Too Short
Y’all, PLEASE don’t make this mistake. There are very few things worse than waiting in line forever for a ride your kid is so excited for only to reach the front and the Cast Member measures them and says they’re too short.
There are signs outside of the ride to show how tall kids have to be, and we strongly recommend you measure your kids at home before you take your Disney vacation so you don’t run into this issue! We also recommend having them measured at the front of the queue so you know for sure.
Not Arriving At After-Hours Parties As Early As Possible
If you’re attending an after-hours party in Disney World, it’s in your best interest to get there as early as you’re allowed to. Why? Because you’ll want to get your money’s worth!
Those after-hours tickets aren’t cheap, and while you may think you have plenty of time during the event, it flies fast! So get into the park as soon as you’re allowed and start checking off that mental to-do list of what you want to do in the park that night. Trust us, you very well may regret it otherwise — especially if you don’t have a park ticket for the day and are only using the after-hours ticket.
Waiting in Line To Buy A Bottled Water
Listen, water is VERY important in Disney World, but NEVER buy bottled water in Disney World. Especially if you’ve got to wait in line for it.
First, because it’s expensive as heck, but also, there are free cups of water at quick service locations all around the parks. We suggest bringing a refillable water bottle in your bag from home and filling it up with those cups of water throughout the day! It saves you money and time waiting in line.
