Come with us to explore Disney’s brand-NEW land!
San Fransokyo Square opens TODAY, August 31st, in Disney California Adventure. This spot used to be known as Pacific Wharf but is now themed to Disney’s Big Hero 6 movie, with updated restaurants, gift shops, and character meet-and-greets. Let’s check it out!
Fans of Disney’s film Big Hero 6 will be familiar with San Fransokyo — “where East meets West, and technology meets tradition.” San Fransokyo, as Disney shares, is “a fictional mash-up of two iconic cities – San Francisco and Tokyo.”
Guests can explore this transformed land, which includes refreshed dining experiences and new shopping experiences along with a Baymax meet-and-greet!
Dining locations you know and love from Pacific Wharf remain open, while new Asian-inspired eats have arrived as well. Other locations have been rethemed for San Franksokyo. All of the eateries and retail locations — both old and new — are still in keeping with the story of the reimagined land.
Today, we’re exploring it ALL.
Characters in San Fransokyo Square
San Fransokyo Square is home to a Baymax meet-and-greet!
You can meet both Baymax and Hiro Hamada at this location, but just Baymax was out when we stopped by.

Baymax Sipper
While you’re out and about in San Fransokyo, keep your eyes peeled for a Baymax Sipper cup at select restaurants.
You can find it at the following locations, and be aware that there’s a limit of two per person:
- Lucky Fortune Cookery
- Cocina Cucamonga Mexican Grill
- Aunt Cass Café
San Fransokyo Maker’s Market
Guests can visit San Fransokyo Maker’s Market, a storefront “stocked with unique apparel, homewares and more featuring Baymax and friends” located near the Hamada Bot Shop.
Up above, the local battlebot champion, Hiro’s Megabot, sits in the rafters!
Nearby, a “vending machine dispenses collectible golden medallions featuring Baymax and other iconic images from San Fransokyo.”
Dining in San Fransokyo Square
Aunt Cass Café
Aunt Cass Café is “the second bakery café operated by Hiro’s loving aunt,” and serves “dishes and soups in freshly-baked Boudin sourdough bread bowls and more inspired by Japanese cuisine.”
Of course, we’ll have to try several of the new dishes at this spot!
We tried the Curry Beef, which is made with beef, carrots, potatoes, and onions cooked in classic curry, topped with rice, pickled ginger, and green onions served in a Boudin sourdough bread bowl for $12.49.
The Shrimp Katsu Sandwich has a panko-breaded shrimp patty on a potato bun with cabbage slaw, spicy mayo, and katsu sauce served with garlic chips for $14.99.
There’s also a new coffee drink here: the Specialty Caramel Cream Cold Brew. This is a Joffrey’s Coffee Caramel Mudslide Cold Brew topped with house-made sea salt caramel whipped cream for $6.79.
We’ll have a full review ready for you soon!
Boudin Bread Cart
Baymax Bread has arrived at the Boudin Bread Cart in San Fransokyo Square!
Disney is anticipating the item’s popularity, so there’s a current limit of 2 per person, per transaction while supplies last.
The rest of the dining locations opened early, so we already have reviews for them! Check them all out here:

Note that other restaurants that were part of Pacific Wharf are still available here, such as Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop.

Maggie says
I’m excited to visit Sanfransokyo! To me, Pacific Wharf was leftover from DCA’s original theming and although I liked it, I’m not sad to see it go. I am a bit sad that Disney didn’t go with entirely new restaurants as I was NEVER impressed by them at all. The Boudin Bakery place was the best to my taste buds and all of the others were ‘neverminds.’ Especially the margarita place that makes fruit slushies with little-to-no risk of buzz. Oh, but I forgot Ghirardelli’s: their ice cream and other treats are just like in San Francisco and are great. Maybe Disney will surprise us with new restaurant offerings down the road?
