It’s TIME.
Oogie Boogie Bash — A Disneyland Halloween Party at Disney California Adventure starts tonight! This sold-out after-hours event takes place across 25 nights between September 5th and October 31st. On these nights, Oogie Boogie (with some of his fellow villains) hosts a fun-filled Halloween extravaganza where guests are invited to wear costumes, attend themed parades, dine on exclusive snacks, and more. We’re attending the first night of the party, so follow along to see how it goes!
Getting Started
The Bash officially starts at 6PM and ends at 11PM, but guests of the party can enter the park as early as 3PM. With the party starting so early, it’s important to know that California Adventure closes at 6PM on party nights.
Once you arrive, you can pick up your wristband for the event!
Crowds
We arrived at 3PM for this sold-out party, and crowds were already queued up!
It looks like we’re not the only ones who are ready to PARTAY!

Despite how long the line looked, it only took us a few minutes to get inside.
Later in the evening after the party started, there were some LONG lines for a few of the Treat Trails.
If you want to see popular characters like Judge Doom, Sid, or Yokai, you’ll want to queue up right away!
Agatha Harkness was another popular Treat Trail. Her line was long even after dark!
And if you want to visit Villains Grove, be prepared to wait in line. We waited 30 minutes to get in.
If you’re hoping to visit the popular stops, you might want to make a to-do list. It’s certainly not EMPTY during this event!
Party Map
As you enter the party, you can pick up your exclusive party map with all the pertinent information that you need!
The guide is full of great information, including showtimes, treat trail spots, character locations, and more.

It also just has a general map of the park with important facilities marked with special symbols.
Along with your park map, you’ll get a wristband! These wristbands allow Disney Cast Members to tell party guests apart from those with day tickets. It makes it much easier to usher the day guests out of the park when it’s time for Oogie Boogie Bash to start.
You’ll want to keep this band on throughout the whole night. This is the way that you prove you paid for admission.
Now that we’ve got the basics, let’s check out some of the exclusive party offerings!
Photo Ops
There are numerous places where you can snap a family picture during the party! There are photo ops spread throughout the park, as well as several PhotoPass photographers around.
If you’re dressing up and heading out to the party, you can’t forget to snap some pics!
Treat Trails
During Oogie Boogie Bash, you definitely don’t want to miss out on the interactive Treat Trails where you can pick up candy…and possibly see some familiar faces! Some of the Treat Trails are pretty standard candy pick-up spots. But the highlight? The Treat Trails where you will find Disney Villains!
There are several villains represented on the Treat Trails this year. First up, we stopped by the Treat Trail that’s home to Yokai from Big Hero 6. Yokai is a new villain to Oogie Boogie Bash this year! You’ll find this trail near San Fransokyo Square.
Heading over near Grizzly Peak Airfield, we spotted Judge Doom from Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Judge Doom is another new addition in 2023.
One popular character that’s returning this year is Sid from Toy Story. You’ll find him on a Treat Trail near Pixar Pier.
If you want to run into the incredibly rare Mad Madam Mim, then you’ll want to stop by the Bountiful Valley Hideaway.
If you’re a WandaVision watcher, then you won’t want to skip out on a visit to Avengers Campus. In the sanctum, you can find Agatha Harkness!
Ever want to be serenaded by a villain? If so, make sure to visit the Treat Trail for Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco!
The live-action version of Cruella de Vil was a new addition a few years ago, and she’s just as fabulous as ever.
Mother Gothel is here as well! She meets near Grizzly Pass with a Treat Trail of her own.
And of course, it would be rude to come to Oogie Boogie Bash without stopping to say hello to Oogie Boogie himself! Visit his Treat Trail in the Disney Animation Building.

Frightfully Fun Parade
The Frightfully Fun Parade, which takes place at 7:50PM and 10:05PM, is full of rare Disney characters, including Headless Horseman, Lady Tremaine, The Ugly Stepsisters, The Queen of Hearts, Captain Hook, Jafar, Ursula, and SO many more!
If you’re a fan of the Disney Villains, this is a can’t-miss. The floats and character appearances are so unique!
And of course, we have to mention the hitchhiking ghosts for the Haunted Mansion die-hards out there!

If you want to watch the parade, we suggest snagging a spot in advance. It’s very popular and the viewing areas can fill up quickly.

Okay, have those photos and videos convinced you that you need to see this parade yet?!
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show
Mickey’s Trick and Treat Show takes place at 6PM, 6:45PM, 7:30PM, 8:45PM, and 9:30PM at the Disney Theater in Hollywood Land.
At this interactive stage production, guests can see characters, dance, and listen to stories! And you might even spot some of Mickey Mouse’s pals.
This is a great entertainment option for the whole family!

Plus, Mummy Goofy is an absolute delight.
Villains Grove
Villains Grove can be found along the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail in the Grizzly Peak area of Disney California Adventure. During the party, the forest is transformed with themed decorations, lights, and sounds to fit each villain’s story as you travel through the spooky woods!
There are 8 differently themed areas along the path: Frollo’s Sanctuary, Maleficent’s Will, Queen of Hearts Garden, Scar’s Elephant Graveyard, Dr. Facilier’s Friends on the Other Side, The Wicked Queen’s Lightning Forest, Home of the Wisps, and Dawn…
…they’re very fun to explore!
So many details to see here in Villains Grove! See if you can spot your favorites! #OogieBoogieBash pic.twitter.com/gPj97XtCN8

But be warned — this attraction can develop a long line as it only operates once the sun goes down!
Character Sightings
Outside of the Treat Trails, there are plenty of character meet and greets to check out around the park. Some of them even include rare characters like Lotso from Toy Story 3!
You can meet a variety of Disney pals, including some villains as well as heroes dressed in Halloween costumes. (Like Minnie, Daisy, and Clarabelle dressed as the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus!)
Party-Exclusive Snacks
There’s not just candy at this party! There are party-exclusive treats throughout the park. First up, we had the Halloween Scoop at Clarabelle’s Hand-Scooped Ice Cream.
You can order this one with your choice of ice cream flavors, so we got Mint Chocolate Chip. Ya know, for that Oogie Boogie-inspired vibe! This treat is made with your choice of ice cream in a cup, a chocolate witch’s hat cone, and seasonal toppings for $10.79.

We also tried the Combustible Components Pizza for $15.49 from Pym Test Kitchen. It’s a “colossal-size” pizza slice with red pepper pesto, mozzarella, cheddar, portabello and button mushrooms, hotlink, pepperoni, and Italian sausage with an arugula salad on the side.
And y’all, we’re not kidding when we say that this thing is MASSIVE. It’s a chunky piece of pizza!
Juuuust another size reference for those of you unfamiliar with the Pym Test Kitchen menu! 😳🤯🍕 pic.twitter.com/Ta36jjbdGv

For our final party-exclusive treat, we stopped by Flo’s V8 Cafe to get the Loaded Carolina BBQ Chicken Fries! These are made with steak fries topped with chicken tenders tossed in a tangy Carolina BBQ sauce, drizzled with dill pickle ranch, and topped with chopped dill pickles. You can order them for $13.49.
