Thanks to Disney, the Star Wars universe is bigger than ever. We’ve got several TV shows, including some that haven’t even come out yet. We’ve got upcoming movies. We’ve got Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in the parks. We’ve got a Star Tours ride update coming soon.
But Disney is far from done giving us stories from the galaxy far, far away. There was one particular project we’ve been watching carefully: the Lando series that was once announced for Disney+. Well, it’s been a hot minute since we’ve had an update on the Lando show, but now we have some BIG news to share.
So the Lando series to be developed by Justin Simien and starring Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, was originally announced way back in 2020. However, things seem to have gotten really quiet about the show, leaving many to speculate that it might end up as a canceled project.
Well, we DID get a bit of an update earlier this year when it was announced that Donald and Stephen Glover would be taking over writing duties for the show, replacing Justin Simien. Well, now we’ve just learned the show is not even a show at all, but a movie!
According to Variety, Stephen Glover mentioned the project as a movie on the “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast. “It’s not even a show…the idea right now is to do a movie. Right now, because of the strike, it’s kind of like telephone, all of the information.” This information was later confirmed by Lucasfilm. Here’s the full podcast:
So the Lando TV series is now being developed as a movie. We don’t have any word on what said movie might be about, although we do know that it will cover Lando’s younger years as a space scoundrel. Perhaps we’ll get to see his adventures BEFORE he met Han Solo.
We’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for more details, but we don’t expect to learn anything further until the current writer’s and actor’s strike have ended.

I am not looking forward to any new Star Wars movies or tv series. It seems to me that Star Wars has jumped the shark.
