There’s a MAJOR project in Florida that’s been under construction for a while. No, we’re not talking about the EPCOT transformation this time. Instead, we’re talking about the new Brightline train service that will soon connect the Orlando International Airport to South Florida. This new transportation option could be a major game-changer for travelers!
As you may have heard, the grand opening of the Brightline high-speed train has experienced a few delays this year, but it is officially set to begin service soon. Ahead of opening day, Brightline just announced a NEW partnership.
Brightline revealed that the company will partner with Mears Transportation to offer “last-mile mobility services.” The new service, called Brightline+, is set to connect passengers traveling between “the Brightline Orlando Station in partnership with Orlando Health and various popular destinations in the region.”
Brightline explained, “The Mears Transportation fleet will be incorporated into Brightline’s innovative door-to-door booking service, Brightline+, available on its mobile app and website, enabling guests to easily plan and book their entire journey within one seamless transaction.” Brightline passengers interested in renting a car will also have access to special rates when booking through Avis Car Rental.
If you’re interested in using Mears transportation after arriving at a Brightline station, you can book a reservation at the same time you make your Brightline reservation, or you can modify an existing trip beginning October 4th. According to Brightline, “Once booked, guests will receive a reservation confirmation directly from Mears with travel instructions, including driver details, pickup location, and vehicle identifiers.”
For our Orlando travelers, Brightline will offer Shared Connect Shuttles Powered by Mears and Luxury Private Rides Powered by Mears. The Shared Connect Shuttles Powered by Mears is an “Exclusive 24/7, Florida-themed shuttle service” that will take guests to Walt Disney World. Here, a shared shuttle will provide guests access to 25+ top hotels in the Orlando area, with one-way adult fares starting at $16 and one-way child fares starting at $13. Note that kids ages 3 and under ride free.
If you’re interested in an upgrade, the Luxury Private Rides Powered by Mears are available starting at $63 per vehicle. This service connects you to your destination in the Mears’ “luxury sedans, plush SUVs, and versatile vans.”
Service between South Florida and Orlando on the new Brightline train will begin September 22nd. In the meantime, we’re always on the lookout for the latest Disney news, so stay tuned for more.

Why would anyone take the Brightline to the Mears to their hotel when they could just take the Mears directly from the airport to their resort? Wouldn’t that take more time? What is the savings here?

This is a no brainer. Why wouldn’t they offer this service… it will bring the Magical Express home to room process back into play. The only problem it the final link directly to your resort service.
