Picture this.
It’s a perfect fall day at Disney World. The sun is shining, the skies are a clear, deep blue, and it’s one of those rare occasions that it actually feels like fall in Central Florida. It’s the type of weather that allows you to wear shorts and a long-sleeve shirt and feel comfortable as you trek around the park. You’re at EPCOT, and although hints of summer linger, you can spot trees throughout the park whose leaves are just beginning to turn brilliant shades of orange, yellow, and red. You’re craving a snack that just FEELS like fall. We know just where to head.
Karamell-Küche in EPCOT’s Germany Pavilion is the sweet treat-lover’s DREAM eatery. Here, you can choose from a wide variety of decadent sweets in which Werther’s caramel is the star of the show. The smell will lure you in to the shop before you even catch sight of it. As soon as we catch a whiff of house-made caramel, caramel apples, caramel popcorn, and even caramel CUPCAKES, we’re transported to a heavenly fall festival filled with tons of our favorite Disney treats.
Today, we’re headed to try an all-new fall treat: the Werther’s Original Maple Caramel Square. This bad boy is exactly what it sounds like. It’s a caramel square made with hints of maple and then topped with maple leaf decor. You can grab it for $4.49.
When we got our hands on this treat, it was truly a “phone eats first” moment! Like, how adorable is this little treat? If you played MarioKart as a kid, you’ll know what we mean when we say that this reminds us of the Maple Treeway course.

Will it taste as good as it looks?
Of course, the answer is YES. It’s really good caramel. It’s deliciously rich, soft, and chewy. It’s nice and buttery but it also has hints of molasses which gives it that good ol’ comfort food kind of flavor. The maple leaf on top reminded us of a WAYYYY better fondant. It kind of tasted like powdered sugar. As for the maple flavor, we were expecting it to be much bolder, but it was pretty subtle.
So… Should YOU try the Maple Caramel Square? Well, if you’re looking for a super strong maple flavor, you might be disappointed. For the super maple-y treats, we suggest heading over to Canada. The caramel flavor is still very much the star of the show with this treat, and the maple takes a subtle but nice supporting role. If you love caramel and are okay with just a small amount of that maple flavor, then this is the treat for you. It’s just enough to kick that sweet tooth but a small enough amount that you won’t feel icky after having the whole thing.
