Now that we’ve turned the corner for October, it’s officially spooky season and with it, we have new treats!
Come with us to try SIX new, Halloween-themed treats in Disney World. The best thing about these treats? You don’t need a park ticket to get them — they’re all located at Disney World’s hotels!
We recently ventured out to the Disney World hotels to snag the latest round of Halloween snacks and treats and we may have gotten more than we bargained for! Our first stop took us out to The Mara at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge to try out the Black Cat Tart for $5.99.
This treat is made of Carrot Cake topped with Orange Caramel, Toasted Coconut, and
Pumpkin Cheesecake.
There’s a very strong pumpkin flavor in the mousse and that balances well with the fall spices in the carrot cake. The mousse is light and refreshing while the cake is denser and comforting. The dome surprisingly didn’t stain our teeth, which we really appreciated, and the whole treat held together REALLY well.
We think the ears were made of gum paste, though, because they were really sticky.
This one scored highly with our taste buds and the presentation was super cute and fun! We think if you’re a fan of pumpkin, carrot cake, and mousse you’ll appreciate this one; however, if you’re someone who really hates pumpkin, carrot cake, mousse, or black dye in your food, we think you’ll do better to pass on this one.
The Harsh Reality of Staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Our next stop took us to Beach Club Marketplace at Disney’s Beach Club Resort to pick up the Captain Hook Cookie for $6.29. It’s made of Vanilla Sable with Strawberry Jam, Peanut Butter Ganache Buttercream, and Chocolate Décor.
The decor on this one is SO cute. It looks like a taco with a mustache. We swooned over the peanut butter and jelly filling that definitely had strong strawberry and peanut flavors, and it was super creamy. The cookie is really soft and easy to eat. The topping is made of white buttercream that’s nice and fluffy.
We quickly found its weakness though when we cut into it. It’s very messy to eat because the bottom is attached to the container with chocolate. There’s also a lot of sugar in this treat, so be prepared for that.
If you’re a PB&J fan, cookie lover, or someone who really likes buttercream icing you should definitely give this one a try. If you’re someone who doesn’t like lightly sweetened, sugary, shortbread cookies, hate PB&J, or just looking for a mildly sweet snack you’ll probably tell this one to walk the plank.

Then we ventured over to the Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in search of the Haunted Mansion Eclair and Carmel-Apple Sugar Cookie.
Don’t they look tasty? We started with the Haunted Mansion Eclair first, which cost us $6.49. It’s an eclair filled with caramel apple mousse and topped with chocolate-caramel ganache and a few edible Haunted Mansion images.
The top medallion is the Hatbox Ghost pictured against the screaming wallpaper from inside the mansion. We loved that this one doesn’t lose sight of the root dessert— just being an eclair. The theming is cute and the chocolate icing is a nice flavor on top of the cold caramel apple mousse.
The eclair is served chilled so it was still a bit on the colder side when we cut into it which helped keep all the chocolates and icing nice and neat. The inside of the eclair revealed the caramel apple mousse, which was tasty but not overpowering.
However, the edible images don’t add anything to the overall flavor and this treat is really small for the price. We were a bit disappointed that the caramel apple flavoring wasn’t very prominent and we couldn’t really get much of those flavors because the chocolate icing overpowered the treat.
If you’re a Haunted Mansion super fan we think you’ll “die” for it, but if you’re looking to get your money’s worth out of a snack, there are plenty bigger and more filling options here to choose from.
Next up we tried the new Caramel-Apple Sugar Cookie for $3.99, which we absolutely would recommend trying! This treat is made of a sugar cookie topped with fall leaf sprinkles and caramel-apple icing.
This treat was too cute to look at and you could smell the caramel apple flavor from it! The sugar cookie was soft without having to be warmed and the icing on top was flavored with caramel-apple flavoring. It was like tasting a Granny Smith apple with caramel just without the sourness to it. The icing was creamy but a bit thick and stiffer where it had sat on the cookie but overall was like having the best of fall in one bite.
While some people may appreciate the Caramel-Apple icing without the added sourness it’s a distinct taste so it’s more than just caramel. If you’re a fan of the sour this one will tease you with the taste but not deliver on that sour punch.
We think you’ll enjoy this one if you’re someone who appreciates smooth caramel-apple flavors because it’s heavy in this treat, but if you’re a plain Jane sugar cookie guru, then this may be too adventurous for you.
REVIEW: This Sandwich At Disney World’s Contempo Cafe Is MESSY. HEAVENLY. PERFECTION.
We had to make one last stop around the Monorail loop at Gasparilla Island Grill at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. We stopped for two Halloween treats here and started with the Not-So-Poison Apple for $7.99!
This one is made of a chocolate cauldron filled with Apple Spice Cake, Apple Filling, and Caramel Buttercream topped with Apple Mousse. It already sounds delicious!
This one is wicked in all the best ways! The theming is on point and we discovered the apple on top of the cauldron is made of apple-flavored mousse when we bit into it but it’s not too tart. The cauldron part is like a chocolate cocoa bomb filled with layered apple cinnamon filling with real apple tidbits that are just cooked enough to bring out the flavor but served cold. If you’ve missed the Not-So-Poison apple cupcake that we saw a few years back, the filling tastes almost identical just with some apple bits.
The top of cauldron icing boiling over the top is more like a gel than a true puffy icing but there’s standard icing just underneath it. The bubbles are made of white crisp pearls that give a good crunch when you bite into them and add an interesting texture.
However, when we tried to cut it in half, we were quickly met with a problem. Don’t expect to cut through this one easily. It can melt fairly quickly with the mousse apple on top and will get messy trying to cut into it. It’s best to scoop the cauldron filling out rather than trying to cut it.
Even with all the mess it could cause, if you love apple pie, this is THE TREAT to try this year.
Then it was time to try out the Mike Wazaowski Pop we picked up for $8.99. This treat is a pop made of confetti cake enrobed in green chocolate with a few sprinkles at the bottom and a singular chocolate edible Mike eye.
This one was super easy to cut through and the inside cake pop is moist. Although it’s served refrigerated, it’s not melty unless it’s left in the sun for an extended period and held together well for being out with us on an overcast day. It’s also huge for a cake pop so it scores points with us for being an easily shareable treat.
This one is a bit pricy but it’s not one we think you’d want to tackle all on your own. Other than the theming it’s pretty basic — the confetti cake in the pop is fun and adds some excitement but nothing else.
If you’re a cake lover and want a shareable snack we think you should give this one a try, but if you’re not a fan of confetti cake or cake pop textures (which is smushed cake) you may not enjoy it as much. Because this treat didn’t really “wow” us, we wouldn’t recommend it.
