We’re about to see a classic Magic Kingdom attraction change in 2024!
Now, there were all kinds of updates and changes that Disney announced at this year’s Destination D23 event, and changes can be good or bad, but this particular change is the source of a lot of controversy!
So, let’s cut right to it. Not everyone has been thrilled to find out that Disney has announced that a NEW SHOW is coming to Country Bear Jamboree in Magic Kingdom. In 2024, the beloved bears will be learning an all-new act — they’ll sing classic Disney songs in their traditional style — country, rockabilly, and bluegrass. Disney confirmed that a rockabilly version of “Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book would be in the lineup!
This new show, Country Bear Musical Jamboree, will be a take on the classic variety shows found in Nashville, Tennessee, and Nashville musicians are involved in the new arrangements. A Disney Imagineer has shared, “… the show will still have the fun and friendly tone that we all love about the Country Bears.”
So what’s the big deal?
Well, as you know, the Country Bear Jamboree has been a little gem tucked away in Frontierland at the Magic Kingdom since Disney World opened its doors in 1971. In fact, this is one of the last attractions that Walt Disney was personally involved in creating.
And that’s really the crux of it. We’re talking about memories. It’s not a flashy, thrill ride of an attraction that draws long lines. What it’s got is nostalgia. It’s like stepping back in time to a simpler, more wholesome era, and lots of fans remember it fondly.
Time and again, we have seen that Disney is in the business of progress. But, we understand that while it probably wasn’t at the top of your must-do list, it’s one of those rides that many remember and smile about, and changing it in any way feels like messing with a beloved family photo album.
All in all, the Country Bear Jamboree is like a warm hug from the past. It makes fans think of cherished family vacations, childhood memories, and pure Disney joy. Here’s hoping the update will do just the same!
We’ll be watching for more updates from Disney, so stay tuned to DFB for more 2024 announcements!

Benjamin Pfister says
I feel the same. First they had to redo Splash Mountain. Now this!?
Paul McCabe says
Many people may not remember this, but back in the 1980’s, they also redid the Country Bears. It was again mostly Country music. I remember a few John Denver songs. It only lasted 1 or 2 years before it was returned to the original show.

Disney is worried about this dinosaur of an “attraction” meanwhile Universal is plowing forward with Super Mario World. A stagnant park is a dying park. Get rid of the Bears altogether, Hall of Presidents, Tom Sawyer Island. Retheme the whole area to Tiana for all I care…give people a reason to visit Frontierland other than re-done Splash and Big Thunder.
Erik says
One big reason we’re not happy is many of us remember the Tiki Room update and how well that did. Not to mention not everything has to have movie-related IP crammed into it, sometimes the attraction itself is the IP.
Also, why is Liverlips now Romeo?!? If they decided to be offended on behalf of no one who is actually offended by the name and change it, would have made more sense to change his name to “Buck” in honor of Buck Owens who he was based on in the first place.
Don Andrews says
Always went to see the bears 2 or 3 times per visit. It is sad to see the old bears move on, but looking forward to see the new show. Just wish they would bring it back to Disneyland.
Todd says
I’m just glad they are respecting the bears enough that this is an update rather than a replacement. Many were speculating for years that it would be on it’s way out. I’m just praying the update is done with respect and won’t be another Tiki Room Under New Management disaster.
Wes says
Great idea. It’s not a total redo just a MUCH needed update. Should be fun and will make this old classic relevant again
Madi says
I think it’s long past due to update the bears. After seeing the same show for so many years, it gets stale. I’m not a country music fan, it am looking forward to seeing the be new show.
ERIC SANFILIPPO says
I have noticed WHY NO character dining in both versions of Galaxy’s EDGE as well as none that exist in World Showcase, plus I have see on YouTube why no character meals in Tiana’s Bake shop on both coasts, plus in Woody’s Roundup Rodeo BBQ??? plus not all characters exist from the 100 Acre WOOD,plus add more attractions-rides plus characters from the international DISNEY parks, plus bring the CA version of Fanstastmic to FL and their version 2 CA
Marcus says
I rode it today. Quaint. Ready for a redo.
Wendy says
That should come back to Disneyland because it was always my favorite and it was one of the best things in that park! Great show.. loved it.
Kenh says
LWAYS LOVED THE bears, and loved them even more during the Holiday Show editions. I for one will be very sad to see them move on. One can only hope that imagineers get it right. Their recent track record under Bob Iger has been dismal on refurbishing and updating. An I also loved the Tiki Room under new Management show. So much more creative than the original show which was dated for sure. The tie I. With Aladdin and Pirates is a natural…. Bring it back.
