The holiday season at Disney World is super magical yet notoriously busy.
Folks flock to the parks to see the festive decor scattered throughout the parks, merry treats and merchandise, and even the sweet relief of a Disney World trip that isn’t spent drenched in sweat. While we usually brace ourselves for the intense crowds that the holiday season brings each year, there’s a possibility that this year, Disney World might not be as crowded. Let’s talk about it!
While there will likely still be crowds no matter what, those crowds might not be as dense this year for two big reasons.
BIG Changes in 2024
While the holidays are often an unbeatable time to visit the parks, we know that several folks are holding out until after the new year to visit. Disney Dining Plans resume on January 9th, Park Pass Reservations will be done away with in most cases starting January 9th, and EPCOT’s new festival area — Communicore Hall and Communicore Plaza — will likely be complete in December.
Oh, and not to mention… some folks might be waiting until NEXT Christmas to visit the parks for their holiday vacation because Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is set to open in Magic Kingdom in late 2024.
PRICE INCREASES!
Each year, it’s the same ol’ story. Around the start of October, we see price increases hit the parks across food and merchandise locations. We just saw over 100 price increases hit the parks, which you can view here, and we expect more to come.
This year, we saw some food prices increase by over a dollar.

We are going in early December and I fully expect it to be very busy! That week used to be a well kept secret, but the secret is out! Still, I am looking forward to the Christmas Party and the Festival of the Holidays! And eating in many of my favorite restaurants – Ale and Compass is our family’s favorite breakfast on Disney property and we will eat there twice!
