Half the fun of taking a trip to Disney World is bringing back memories to cherish forever — and tons of pictures.
Disney World is already starting to turn out the holiday cheer (and merchandise) while fall festivities are happening. If you’re planning on spending the holidays in the most magical place on Earth and getting some of the most epic pictures, there are a few flaws you may not have stopped to consider about your plan.
Ah, the last part of the year is finally upon you and you’re gearing up to spend the holidays right as fall changes over to holiday decor in Disney World. That’s super smart of you to be able to knock out either spooky season or add some holiday cheer to your trip (possibly both if you time it just right), but if you’re planning on getting a few of those iconic photos around Disney, we’re about to put a wrench into your plans.
When visiting Disney World, expectations can be everything. From the crowds to the weather, being prepared and armed with the most updated information that fits your desires for your visit is the best and most effective defense against a few disappointments along the way, and we’re afraid pictures are no exception to this rule.
If you’re planning on getting those gorgeous shots of you standing just beyond the flagpole in Magic Kingdom with the camera capturing you, Cinderella Castle, and the rest of Main Street in the background… you might want to expect a few extra props to appear in your pictures. While this might seem like a no-brainer to someone who keeps up with the decoration changing around the Disney World parks between seasons, others who might not be as well-versed in Disney decor might find themselves a bit frustrated that giant stacks of pumpkins…
…or a massive Christmas tree is blocking their perfect shot.
How about wrapping your arms around a light pole down Disney’s Hollywood Studios and catching the light’s glow as it hits the top of your head?
Yeah, you’ll want to watch for the tinsel-wrapped stars that typically adorn the lights down Sunset Boulevard as you’re walking toward Tower of Terror.
Additionally here, if you’re planning on taking a few pictures along Hollywood Boulevard down the main stretch headed to Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you’ll probably find a few streams of tinsel adorned with glimmering stars between the rooftops of the buildings.
Trying to snag a picture of Gertie the dino at Echo Lake during the holidays? It might surprise you to see that Gertie’s full of holiday surprises!
The same goes for taking photos heading into the World Showcase in EPCOT. If you’re looking to pose for a quick pic at the port of entry with the lagoon in the background, you could have a difficult time finding the ideal location due to the stage and holiday decor that’s set up for the Festival of the Holidays celebrated during this time.
But don’t worry, just because you might not be getting the classic shots you’re hoping for, if you’re flexible and open to some creativity, there are dozens of ways to jazz up the right spot to get as close to those pictures as possible during your visit. It also helps to talk with the photo pass photographers about what you’re looking for so they can assist, too!
