Breakfast in Disney World can be one of the hardest meals to figure out.
Sure, there are great character meal breakfasts you can do, but they cost a pretty penny, and maybe they aren’t your thing. We have plenty of favorites for breakfasts around the parks, and we may have just found two more in Disney’s Animal Kingdom!
A BUNCH of new treats and snacks have arrived at Animal Kingdom, so of course we had to try them out. Come with us to check out two new breakfast options in this park!
The first new item can be found over at Drinkwallah where you can grab yourself the new Pancake Stuffed Sandwich for $8.99 (Note that this snack can also be found at Pongu Pongu and Trek Snacks). The inside of the pancake sandwich includes sausage, guava paste, egg, and cheese. You can ask for it without the guava paste if you want, but we were curious to try it!
This biscuit is quite large and could easily be shared between two people if you just want a little snack, or it makes a pretty filling breakfast for one person. The pancake part of it was thick and fluffy but wasn’t so soft that it compromised the structure of the sandwich. It had a nice crust on the outside, which helped hold it all together.
We thought that, overall, this tasted very similar to a sausage and egg biscuit that you might find at a fast food restaurant. However, the guava jam gave it an extra element that elevated the flavor by adding some sweetness.
We were big fans of that guava jam! It gave the sandwich a hint of sweetness that we enjoyed and that we thought balanced out well with the other elements of the sandwich. We would describe the sandwich as mostly savory with just a hint of sweetness. If you’re typically a fan of these types of sandwiches, we say give it a try!
The sausage and egg were good but just the standard sausages and eggs that exist all around Disney World in various breakfast items. They were tasty but not really anything to write home about.
Given the size of this sandwich, we think the $8.99 price tag is fairly reasonable.
Next, we headed over to Kusafiri for the new Breakfast Totchos. These are $10.99 and are made of Potato Barrels, Scrambled Eggs, Nacho Cheese Sauce, Cheese Curds, and Crumbled Bacon.
This comes in a decent portion and is certainly a filling breakfast for one person. It’s very heavy on the cheese (plastic cheese, as we lovingly call it) and egg — honestly, we would have preferred a little more tots and a little less egg!
The bacon added a nice crunch that we enjoyed, and while we weren’t personally a fan of the cheese curds, they’re easy to pick off if you’d prefer to. This is a great option if you want to fill up at the beginning of your park day, but it’ll be a little hard to eat on the go, so we suggest heading over to Harambe Market or Dawa Bar close by for a seat.
So here’s the REAL question: how do these stack up against the Breakfast Totchos over at Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios?
The main difference between the two is that the Woody’s Lunch Box ones have brisket country gravy added on and no plastic cheese or cheese curds. So if you love cheese as much as we do, we’d definitely recommend trying out the Kusafiri version! However, if you’re after that classic breakfast combination of gravy, eggs, and potatoes, then the Woody’s Lunch Box ones will be the best choice for you.
