We can’t wait to go down to the Bayou!
Next year, Magic Kingdom and Disneyland are slated to open Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a new attraction based on Disney’s The Princess and the Frog (2009). The ride replaces Splash Mountain and follows Princess Tiana and Louis on a musical adventure as they prepare for a Mardis Gras performance. We’ve been given several updates since the original announcement — and now we have a brand new artistic update to SHARE WITH YOU!
As the Disney Parks continue to make progress on construction for the new attraction, Disney released some new information this week about what some of the queue will look like! Per Disney, it looks like some colorful murals and other works of art inspired by The Princess and the Frog and the spirit of Louisiana will adorn the walls of the queue!
The newest mural was designed by Lousiana native artist Malaika Favorite and will be featured in the queues of both Disney World and Disneyland’s new attraction. Inspired by art found throughout New Orleans, this queue art serves as an introduction to the story of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. Carmen Smith, Senior Vice President of Creative Development – Product/Content & Inclusive Strategies, wrote that this art is meant to preserve “the authenticity of Princess Tiana’s experience as a young Black woman striving to achieve her dream in the soulful backdrop of New Orleans”. In Disney’s search to do that, it made sense to use Favorite to bring that vision to life.
Favorite’s mural continues the storyline from the movie and features a collage of scenes displayed on two of the building’s exterior walls. The scenes represent the creation of Tiana’s Foods while showcasing Tiana’s professional journey. According to Smith, the mural reflects the elements of “family, friends, food, music, art, and bringing folks together.”
Magic Kingdom and Disneyland guests will get to experience these murals when the ride opens at both parks in late 2024. So far, we’re liking what we’re seeing from the infusion of The Princess and the Frog into the Disney Parks! We have been incredibly excited about the inclusion of the attraction since its announcement and can’t wait to get on the ride ourselves. As more news unfolds regarding attraction construction and development, we’ll be sure to bring you the latest!

I am so disappointed in this change.

Wow. This looks so bad. Like an elementary school mural. And I love The Princess and the Frog and have been so excited for this ride

That mess will be on the OUTSIDE? How in the world does this fit into the theming in the area? Answer? It doesn’t. I keep hoping something about this will change my mind about the coming attraction. I’m betting that graffiti wasn’t a big thing in the era Tiana and Naveen were hanging out in Louisiana. This actually made me feel worse. How sad.

Why don’t they just feature a blank wall and let little kids draw on it.
