If there’s one thing we’re constantly looking to do when we travel…it’s make the airport experience EASIER!
Spending unnecessary hours at the airport can get your vacation off to a bad start, and nobody wants to start their trip by waiting an excess amount of time for security. That’s why we’re constantly looking for solutions — things like TSA PreCheck and luggage packing hacks to make the process smoother. And now, one airport is introducing a way to cut down your time spent at security significantly!
A while back, the Orlando International Airport introduced MCO Reserve, where travelers could reserve a time slot to go through security with a much shorter line. The offering is available from 5AM-5PM on select flights, and you can make your reservations 72 hours in advance. It’s a free service to those flying out of MCO.
And now, the Heathrow Airport in London is offering a similar option!
Heathrow has recently introduced a new program called Timeslot, where you can book a timeslot to go through security and experience a much shorter wait. To enroll, you’ll first need to check if Heathrow Timeslot is available for your particular flight by visiting the online booking page.
Once you book your timeslot, you’ll receive a QR code. After arriving at the airport, you can follow the signs to the Heathrow Timeslot area and show your QR code to a member of the staff. Currently, this service is only available for select flights in Terminal 3, but Heathrow notes that using Timeslot should offer a “stress-free” security experience.
The timeslots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you’ll want to plan ahead for future travel. We’ll keep you updated if we start to see this service offered at more major airports!
