Disney has been involved in countless lawsuits in recent years.
Between movie stars, government employees, passholders, and more — it’s likely been a bit chaotic for the company’s legal department. And now, we have an important update about the Magic Key lawsuit brought against Disney.
Disney previously agreed to settle the suit with Magic Key Holders in September, and now we know just when passholders will get their share of the $9.5 million settlement. According to the Orange County Register, a U.S. District Court judge granted preliminary approval of the settlement and has set a final approval hearing.
The lawsuit alleged that Dream Key passholders who purchased a pass in 2021 weren’t able to make theme park reservations at the Disneyland theme parks, despite being marketed as having no blackout dates.
Judge David O. Carter set the final hearing for February 20th with any payments issued within 60 days of the judgement. Passholders should expect to get their chunk of the settlement before April 20th. This means each of the 103,435 Dream Key holders will get $67.41 to use on whatever they want assuming the final judgment is in their favor.
Dream Key holders can expect to receive an email from a third-party settlement administrator with instructions on how to get their money and do not need to submit anything for a refund.

Ronjon says
So is the settlement only for the “Inspire Key” pass-holders or for all the Magic Key pass-holders? The Inspire Key passes were the only ones with no blackout dates. Either way, getting rid of the reservations would make things so much better for pass-holders. Let it first come, first serve as it used to be.

$67.41. Well that certainly seems worth the effort. (I know there is more to it than just a payout, but still)
