We probably let Disney get away with more than we should…ya know, merchandise-wise!
Over the years, we’ve seen a fair share of souvenirs that were outrageously expensive (the crystal Cinderella Castle model chief among them) or honestly low-key frightening (like the pricey Ewok plush with dead eyes). And now we’ve just come to expect the unexpected when we walk into a Disney World gift shop. But that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop sharing our bizarre merchandise finds with you…especially one we spotted in Magic Kingdom!
In The Emporium at Magic Kingdom, you can now purchase perhaps the ugliest Disney sweater we’ve ever seen. Seriously, what is going ON here?! It’s like they printed a coloring sheet onto a shirt designed to torture you with its itchiness (or at least, it looks that way).
As if not bad enough that the adults should suffer, they’ve brought the kids into this as well! There’s a youth version available for $34.99. Oh, the HUMANITY!
We suppose this shirt can serve a purpose though — there’s no earthly way your family could lose you in Disney World if you’re dressed in this. Park security would spot you from a mile away. They could probably look across World Showcase Lagoon and pick you out of a crowd in the American Adventure Pavilion.
In all seriousness, you can get the adult version of the shirt for $39.99 in The Emporium, as well as the youth option. And now that we’ve all agreed this is a terrible disaster, it’s time to round up our torches and pitchforks. We ride at dawn! 😅

Honestly…that is the coloring book artwork. I have been noticing this for some time now. Merch throughout many of the parks are not using new artwork. It’s lazy reuse of older artwork. So instead of blaming low quality/ lack of imagination merch on COVID…. Now Disney is lazy-ing new merch by using “old & previously used images in the name of the 100 and 50th. Basically….its being cheap(for the BILLIONTH TIME) and not having to pay people to make new artwork. The Christmas spirit jersey Is Golden Book images I believe, or at least in that style. AND we have also seen for the 50th that they just reprinted old tshirts and mugs etc…. as nostalgia. SO i appreciate nostalgia just as much as any long time Disney fan, but when that’s what 80% of the merch is……stuff you’ve seen before, it makes it easier for me at least to buy LESS!! I’ve been going to the parks since 1979. Let’s face it, if you can reprint an archived t shirt and sell it for 2-3 × its original cost, its definately cheaper than having to pay someone to come up with an actual design. Plus, there is little ir no pre-approval needed… its already been done….. and yet people keep buying it.

How dare you!!!
I was in Animal Kingdom Monday and I saw this shirt and I loved it and I bought it! It is colorful displays fireworks around the castle on a black background. You get tired of the paing shirts with either Mickey or Minnie only on the shirt. Or some other character. This shirt celebrates the castle and fireworks I CAN NOT wait to wear it with a smile on my face. I had been looking at the purple sweatshirt with the characters on the bottom back. Then I saw a solid black glitter sweatshirt that had the typical big words
WALT DISNEY WORLD across the top back of the sweatshirt. So I just wanted you to know that I am the proud owner of the one listed by you as ugly!!!! I hope to see others buy this shirt and wear it proudly

I couldn’t stand that shirt; it would make me crazy. I would have to get my paints out and paint the entire castle in with all of the details showing.

WOW. Maybe they were thinking everyone would buy it for the Worst Christmas Sweater parties…?
