Disney World is one of the few vacation spots in the world with an ENDLESS supply of planning information. You may not realize it, but the internet is a seriously underrated resource for people planning a trip to Disney World. You can find information online on just about anything Disney-related — down to the walking paths you should avoid in Disney World.
Want to plan a trip to Paris? Good luck finding a detailed photo tour online with all your hotel options. Trying to determine all your transportation options before a trip to Italy? It’s not as easy as you might think! Meanwhile, Disney World veterans have managed to carve out a section of the internet with tons of tips, tricks, and helpful updates to prepare you for your vacation. After field testing LOTS of Disney tips, it’s time to discuss one of our FAVORITE Disney World hotel secrets.
Among Disney experts, there is one way to save some SERIOUS money on Disney World’s Deluxe resorts. Ever heard of renting Disney Vacation Club points to stay at DVC hotels? Buckle up, people. We’re about to blow your minds with a serious money-saving hack.
Here at DFB, we recommend David’s Vacation Club Rentals if you’re interested in renting DVC points to save some money. The team at David’s Vacation Club Rentals is reliable, has a wealth of knowledge, and can even help you plan your trip! You don’t have to be a Vacation Club member to stay at a DVC resort; you can book a room at a DVC hotel or DVC villas directly through Disney, or you can rent points!
If you decide to rent DVC points, you’re essentially staying as a guest of a Disney Vacation Club member. In fact, depending on the date and resort you choose, you may be able to rent points and get a room for 30-50% LESS than it would cost you to book the room directly through Disney. Those are some huge savings! More specifically, you’ll typically pay around $19 per point or $20 per point.
As an example, in September 2024, a week in a one-bedroom villa at Copper Creek (adjacent to Wilderness Lodge) will run you 185 DVC points, or about $3,700 if you pay $20 per point. Booking straight through the Disney World website for a week in September will cost $5,289.69.
In Disney World, you can rent points through David’s Vacation Club Rentals to stay at:
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas at Jambo House
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas at Kidani Village
- Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Disney’s Beach Club Villas
- Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
- The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
- Disney’s Old Key West Resort
- Disney’s Polynesian Villas and Bungalows
- Disney’s Riviera Resort
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
- Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
- Copper Creek Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
Truthfully, there are TONS of ways to save money on your next hotel stay, but this tip might be one of our favorites. If you’re looking for that Deluxe Resort experience, but don’t have a Deluxe Resort budget, we highly suggest looking into the DVC point rental process.

How does this work with linking your reservation through My Disney Experience? I presume you purchase your park tickets separately instead of in a package? Also, is this something that a travel agent could book if we decided to use Small World Vacations?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Terri. You’ll be able to link your reservation number the same way you would if you were staying in a regular resort. You would not be getting a vacation package so a travel agent wouldn’t be able to help you in this case. It’s something you would have to do on your own and park tickets are not included.
