Most of the time when we’re at the Disney Parks, we come across food that sounds delicious and practical. However, on occasion, we do find meals and snacks that make us scratch our heads.
Sometimes if something looks weird and sounds weird, it can taste pretty weird as well. We’ve had our fair share of surprises both good and bad so we’ll always reserve judgment until after we’ve eaten what we set out to try. Still, we’re game to try anything — even chocolate-coated pizza crust in this case!
Over at Disney California Adventure in Anaheim, we made our way over to Terran Treats at Avengers Campus to try the Type 526: Chocolate-Cherry Pie. On the outside, a chocolate cherry pie sounds like an instant hit. That being said, this one comes with a bit of a caveat.
This pie comes with a chocolate-coated pizza crust, cherry pie filling, and slivered almonds with a chocolate cherry sauce. We enjoy the churro concoctions at Terran Treats and, honestly, we would’ve preferred a churro instead of the pizza crust.
The crust was crunchier than we would’ve liked and was more difficult than necessary to bite into. The inside of the crust was fortunately a lot softer.
As for the flavor, we had a mixed reaction. Our treat tasted a bit burnt initially, almost as if it had been heated up too long. The chocolate sauce and cherry filling blended into one flavor, which wasn’t good or bad but made it hard to get distinctive flavors. Still, the overall flavor of rich chocolate and hints of sweet cherry was mostly pleasant.
In Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge, we snagged this intergalactic treat!
Type 526: Chocolate Cherry Pie. 🥧
It’s chocolate coated pizza crust, cherry pie filing, and slivered almonds with chocolate cherry sauce for $7.75. pic.twitter.com/TEaFesfCvf— Disney Food Blog (@DisneyFoodBlog) October 22, 2023
This treat costs $7.75, and we think it’s really up to you if you feel it’s worth it. Our pie didn’t really look like the one pictured at Terran Treats, and there are safer bet desserts in this price range all throughout the Disneyland Resort. We think chocolate and cherry lovers may end up really enjoying this treat, but people who are averse to rich chocolate flavors and messy desserts may want to pass.
