Lots of news was recently announced with the official first look inside the new themed lounge coming to the Disney Treasure cruise ship.
Haunted Mansion fans just received a few details about the upcoming Haunted Mansion Parlor and its exclusive merchandise, and now we’ve all been left to wonder, just what else we could possibly see from this space?
Disney’s certainly dropping hints and ringing some bells with the unveiling of the Haunted Mansion Parlor set to hit the seas on the Disney Treasure soon.
This highly themed bar and lounge experience will draw inspiration from the spooky yet quirky Haunted Mansion attraction you can find in multiple Disney parks around the world, so it was just a matter of time until we saw it hit the high seas, too!
While a few renderings of the space reveal a nautical spin on the ghoulishly delightful mansion spirits, we as fans are left to relay our wish list of things we’d love to see incorporated into this new space. Here are just a few of the most important details that have crossed our minds!
Familiar Lines From The Ride
What kind of Haunted Mansion enthusiasts would we be without being able to quote at least some of the narrated lines?
It’s not too far-fetched to think that some of the spoken lines we’ve heard narrated ominously from the Ghost Host would make their way into the first iteration of the Haunted Mansion at sea. Those who are familiar with the Haunted Mansion know all too well the importance of being able to nail the narration as you’re walking into the mansion building and putting your appreciation for the ride on full display.
Grim Grinning Ghosts
The people NEED grim-grinning ghosts… PERIOD!
It wouldn’t be a “swinging wake” without some of the happiest haunts around to materialize right in front of your eyes. While we’ve already heard the tale that Madame Loeota plans to help bring these ghosts in for a welcomed soiree, Haunted Mansion fans would still love an opportunity to see the looming ghosts while they sing (or even hum) the tune of the Grim Grinning Ghosts song… it’s an (after-life) party after all, right?
Iconic Costumes
Chances are if you’ve ever found yourself surrounded by costumed folks at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween party you’ve seen several dressed up in the ICONIC Cast Member costumes.
The butler and chambermaid costumes we’ve grown to know and love would certainly spark enthusiastic squeals should they make an appearance in this fresh spin. Even if the new costumes are just inspired by the current mansion costume designs, they would be eye-catching enough to reel in those who could pick out these costumes from a mile away (or should we say from behind the opened corridor doorway?)
Touchable Elements
One thing that hit home with us during the special announcement we attended to learn about the Haunted Mansion Parlor coming to life was hearing the Imagineers speak about “FINALLY being able to get out of the doom buggy” in the rides and explore what’s beyond your ride vehicle.
If you’ve ever ached for an opportunity to touch some of the props around the mansion and finally run your fingertips over the screeching wallpaper design, we’ve got news for you… your time has almost arrived!
Imagineers also stated that several of the ride’s most notable pieces will be making their way into the final design of the lounge so there’s a good chance we’ll finally have an opportunity to sit down in the high-backed red chair, touch the 13th-hour clock, and feel those brittle giant funeral flower wreaths.
Same Moody Cast Members
Haunted Mansion Cast Members have a bit of a reputation… and if you know where we’re going with this then know we’re already tipping our hats to you.
On any given day when you approach a Cast Member working in our around the Haunted Mansion attraction, you’ll probably be met with a dead-eyed stare and a monotone response or command… it’s just the effect this mansion has on the cast.
Ideally, we’d love to see this played up again at the lounge from the bartenders to the servers, and think this would be key to helping streamline your experience on land and sea.
A Self-Playing Piano Doesn’t Sound So Bad…
One of the first rooms you tour through your guided drifting in the mansion is a parlor with a ghost playing a giant piano.
While you can’t physically see anyone playing, as you look around the shadows and let your eyes adjust, you’ll be able to make out the talented musician’s figure on the floor just in front of your doom buggy. We know this might sound creepy, but since it is such a big part of setting the right tone for the remainder of your tour, we hope that “final arrangements” for the parlor will see fitting that a phantom organist be worked into the lounge space to play us a song or two.
A Punny Epitaph
The storyline for the Haunted Mansion Parl0r will follow a Sea Captain’s funeral service and since we’re going to be saying our goodbyes at sea, why not give him a proper send-off?
Eagle-eyed visitors around the Haunted Mansion attractions have notably spotted “punny” epitaphs or sayings written on gravestones that litter the yard to the mansion so it would be nice to see something written of a similar caliber for the upcoming Sea Captain’s life summary.
Gazing Ghostwriter Busts
Since we’ll be in a parlor, we think there could be a few books lying around, and who better to keep watch over those than the notable ghostwriter busts?
I’m sure if we were to see them in this new setting they’ll all sit silently judging you until you pick up one of their works of literature for a light read while at sea.
We NEED To See Madame Leota
The seance that Madame Leota will be set to lead will be nice to hear, but we think it would be even more immersive if we could SEE her!
We realize that bringing the full seance room with the swirling instruments and tarot cards might be a bit much (and dark) for a lighthearted funeral party, but if we’re supposed to believe that Madame Leota is channeling happy haunts from “regions beyond” we hope as super fans we get a chance to at least sneak a peek at her and gaze into her floating crystal ball.
That’s not asking for too much, right? Either way, we can hardly contain our excitement about the upcoming Disney Treasure and Haunted Mansion Parlor additions to the Disney Cruise Line lineup. Be sure to stay tuned with us for more info!
