Over at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, there have been A LOT of changes in the past year or so.
Disney announced that the hotel’s rooms, lobby, and some restaurants were going to be seeing updates. We’re now over a year into the remodel process and we thought you might like to see how things are moving along. So let’s take a look at what’s finished and what is still a work in progress at the BoardWalk Inn.
The BoardWalk Inn is just a quick walk away from International Gateway, a back entrance to EPCOT leading you right into the World Showcase. Starting in 2022, there have been several updates done (and still on their way) to the hotel. Let’s first take a look at what has all been completed!
Lobby/Lounge Area
Disney had announced that the lobby and lounge area would be “reinvigorated” with “light and airy touches.” They wanted to bring in the feel of the sea breeze right into the hotel. And now it is completed for all who stop into the BoardWalk Inn!
Essentially, we saw the lobby get some new decor and paint to achieve this bright, new atmosphere.
Carousel Coffee
The original coffee shop in the lounge area, Dundy’s Sundries, was closed down while a new one took its place, Carousel Coffee. This new coffee shop is open and operating inside the BoardWalk.
We’re happy to see the central area of this hotel completed for guests when they first arrive!
WHAT'S NEW AT DISNEY?
Check out our daily updates on all the happenings around Disney World and Disneyland!BoardWalk Deli
In the fall of 2022 BoardWalk Deli was opened. This new deli took the place of the old BoardWalk Bakery which had closed in July 2022. The BoardWalk Deli serves baked bread, hot and cold deli sandwiches, and other yummy bakery items.
This is a quick-service restaurant serving up tasty eats, so don’t miss it on your next Disney trip!
Okay, now let’s get into the projects that are not yet completed at the BoardWalk.
Hotel Rooms
The rooms have been getting work done on them since 2022 and while we’ve gotten sneak peeks and first looks of what they will be like, we haven’t heard that they’re officially done yet.
With the same ideas as in the lobby, Disney wanted to bring a “light and airy” feel to these rooms as though you are really on a boardwalk getting the nice sea breeze. They look like they’re going to be very nice rooms when they’re completed!
Cake Bake Shop
When we first heard about the Cake Bake Shop opening in Disney World it was set to open this year, 2023. But then in September, Disney announced that it would not be opening until early 2024.
We’re really excited for this shop to open! Gwendolyn Rogers, the owner, has other Cake Bake Shops that serve fantastic and whimsical cakes and desserts. So this will be a welcome spot when it opens.
Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs
A Blue Ribbon Corn Dog stand has been at Disneyland (Downtown Disney) for a long time serving up their famous Pickle Corn Dog. Recently, Disney has announced that this little corn dog cart will be making its way to the BoardWalk!
We don’t have a specific opening date yet, but Disney has said later this year (2023). So we’re keeping our eyes peeled for this big news!
It’s exciting that much of the work has been completed at the BoardWalk Inn, but in our opinion, the best is yet to come! We’re definitely keeping a look out for more updates on the rooms, Cake Bake Shop, and the Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs.

We just returned from a week at Disney World, splitting our lodging between the Polynesian and the Boardwalk Villas. This was the most fun we have had at WDW in years. As always, the Boardwalk is our favorite place to stay on property. The Castmembers in the resorts, restaurants and at the parks made our stay truly Magical. Bob Iger can learn a thing or two from a typical WDW Castmember, about treating Guests right and making them feel welcome. Hint for Iger: Its not the Woke Agenda that we are looking for!
