When it comes to planning that perfect Disney World trip, you always have to stay on your toes because things open and close all the time.
We’re used to attractions opening and closing but did you know Disney World has full water parks that do the same? Disney World has two water parks and, typically, when one park is open, the other is closed. Such is the case with an impending switch, so read ahead to find out how the closure of one of those water parks affects your next trip.
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach are Disney World’s two water parks, and we just got word about their change in status. Per Disney, on Sunday, November 5th, Typhoon Lagoon will temporarily close, and Blizzard Beach will open the next day.
Typhoon Lagoon is home to a water coaster, several water slides, a wave pool, a lazy river, a more tropical aesthetic, and Ketchakiddee Creek, a play area for smaller kids. This water park is generally preferred for older kids and adults and has been open for nearly eight months. That streak comes to an end on November 5th.
On the flip side, Blizzard Beach will be reopening and offering a lot of the same experiences, albeit with a snowy theme. It has the same number of water slides as Typhoon Lagoon (seven), the massive Summit Plummet, a 12-story plunge down a “near vertical drop”, and a chair lift. Add in the wave pool, and you’re sure to have a good time at this water park.
