Happy merry holly jolly seasons greetings here! (Bonus points to anyone who gets that reference!)
We’re diving headfirst into the seasonal celebrations in Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Christmas trees are going up, snacks are arriving, and holiday parties are kicking off soon. But first, we’ve got to talk about something very important…gingerbread!
Disney is known for making some pretty spectacular gingerbread displays, and every year we’re there to check them out and try out the treats that come along with them. This year, there are quite a few that you can add to your checklist, so let’s talk about what you can expect!
Walt Disney World
First up, let’s head over to Disney’s Yacht Club Resort because they have a brand-new display in 2023! The Yacht Club display will honor the iconic lighthouse out in front of the resort on Crescent Lake. The pastry chefs actually used the REAL blueprints of the lighthouse to construct a gingerbread model. And of course, there will be a Holiday Pop Up Shop where you can buy Lighthouse Fudge to honor the new creation! We can’t wait to check it out.
Perhaps the most iconic gingerbread display is the cottage at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Construction has already begun on this house for its 24th year. It’s topped with white chocolate candy canes, edible snowflakes, sugar poinsettias, and over 10,000 pieces of gingerbread. It takes 500 hours to bake and 480 hours to decorate, and this year there will be 24 hidden Mickeys throughout. It officially opens on November 8th and will last until January 1st.
Next door to the Yacht Club display, you’ll be able to find the stunning Holiday Carousel at Disney’s Beach Club Resort. This year, this gingerbread offering is inspired by Ducktales, with the horses themed to Donald Duck and his nephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie. On this carousel that actually moves, there are 22 hidden Mickeys to find throughout the display, as well as 434 pounds of honey, 25 pounds of spices, and 200 pounds of icing.
Also on Crescent Lake is the gingerbread display at the BoardWalk Inn. This miniature version of the BoardWalk will be available from November 17th through December 27th.
And of course, we can’t forget the WILD display at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge! At Jambo House, you’ll find a life-size replica of a baby giraffe and a baby zebra…made out of gingerbread! They’ll be on display from November 22nd through December 31st.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort is also home to an annual display, located on the fourth-floor concourse. From November 10th through January 6th, you’ll be able to check out this year’s Mary Blair-inspired 100th Celebration-themed Castle Display and purchase some delicious treats. The display stands over 17 feet tall with 612 pounds of sugar, 1012 pounds of flour, 112 pounds of gingerbread spice, over 4000 castle gingerbread bricks, and 12 hidden five-legged goats.
The final display at Disney World is located in The American Adventure at EPCOT. From November 24th through December 30th, you can see this display as part of the Festival of the Holidays. It recreates several iconic American national monuments in gingerbread form. This year’s design will have gingerbread versions of the Lincoln Memorial, Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial, The American Adventure building with Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, and even a Festival Marketplace. And don’t forget to find the 6 hidden Mickeys!
But what about the west coast? Well, they’ve got some gingerbread to check out as well!
Disneyland Resort
At Disney’s Grand Californian Resort & Spa, the lobby display is BACK! Starting on November 10th, the gingerbread replica of the hotel will be on display for visitors. It stands 7 feet tall and 12 feet wide, and is created from more than 600 pounds of gingerbread, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 250 pounds of fondant, and features 25 hidden Mickeys.
One of the most iconic Disneyland displays is INSIDE the Haunted Mansion. For the holiday Nightmare Before Christmas ride overlay, Disney creates a stunning gingerbread house each year. With three moving elements and nearly 300 pounds, this display took over 20 days to build and decorate with 13 cast members. You can check it out before the overlay ends on January 8th, 2024.
So there you go — all the details about the fantastic gingerbread displays in Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Stay tuned to DFB as we go check them all out this holiday season!

I wonder why they do gingerbread at the haunted ma soon at Disneyland and nothing at Disney-world.

Just finished a 7 day Fantasy Cruise, and they were able to display their gingerbread hut on the last day. Didn’t get a pic. Hope someone can provide one.

I loved making the rounds to see gingerbread creations when I was there at Christmas. I hope to see them again in a future trip. 😊
