Do you enjoy seeing works of edible art?
If you do, you’ll certainly want to visit Disney World during the holiday season. Why? That’s when many of Disney World’s resorts set up their gingerbread houses, including a giant one that goes up every year at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, which recently opened. Now, ANOTHER gingerbread house has opened in Disney World, so let’s go check it out!
Let’s head on over to Disney’s Beach Club Resort to check out the gingerbread display there! So this one isn’t a gingerbread HOUSE — it’s a gingerbread CAROUSEL. Yep, they’ve built an actual carousel out of gingerbread at Disney’s Beach Club. But this year’s carousel is Ducktales-themed. Woo-oo! Yes, we’re singing the Ducktales theme song RIGHT NOW.
You’ll spot some familiar faces, like Huey, Dewey, and Louie riding the horses on this carousel.
The top of the carousel features Spaceship Earth and the EPCOT and DuckTales logo. In case you missed it, there’s a fun interactive Ducktales game you can play in EPCOT.
The game is called DuckTales World Showcase Adventure, and that’s REALLY what the theme of the gingerbread carousel is all about.
The carousel also features flags from around the world, and keep an eye out for more familiar characters — we see you, Scrooge McDuck!
The horses represent different country pavilions in EPCOT. Look at how beautiful the Mexico-inspired horse is.
If you’re a numbers person, there’s a scroll detailing just how many ingredients it took to put this thing together. Yes, this will BLOW your mind. Also, be sure to find the 23 hidden Mickeys!
The pop-up holiday treats shop at Disney’s Beach Club is also open now.
We picked up the Mickey Snowman Pop for $5.99!
This adorable treat is themed to a Mickey snowman-shape of 3 cake pops with chocolate pieces for the ears and fondant for the decorations.
The cake pop is super moist and melts in your mouth and the fondant isn’t too thick to overpower the vanilla flavor of the cake. Mickey’s hat, scarf, and body decorations are made out of modeling sugar so they don’t add much to the overall flavor other than just upping that cute factor.
The dark chocolate pieces for the ears were noticeably dark chocolate in taste and were delicious but melted super quick in the sun!
We also tried out the Signature Stollen Bread for $13.99!
This bread looks festive however, we found it hard to cut through because of all the bouncy layers to it. Overall though it was very enjoyable. The layers on the inside taste like a flaky croissant and a fig-like thin chewy gel that tastes more like a rolled-up layer of gummy treat with thick sugar that crunches as you bite into it.
As interesting as that might sound, it actually tastes really good together! The outside chocolate layer is made of dark chocolate which we really enjoyed against the super sweet flavors on the inside of the bread. You’ll definitely taste the spices in it but they’re very mild, and although the ingredients list alcohol baked into the bread, it didn’t translate in the finished taste.
This bread was really thick so we could see sharing it with someone, but even with that option, we’re not certain it’s worth $13 for such a small portion.
We’ll keep an eye out for more holiday happenings throughout Disney World, so stay tuned to DFB for more.
