It’s true.
One of the BEST parts of attending one of Disney World’s special-ticketed after hours event is being able to ride all the rides with shorter waits and a little bit of extra magic. We attended the first Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party of the year on November 9th, so we were checking out all things hip and happening. One thing that we had been looking forward to was being able to ride the recently-added TRON: Lightcycle / Run ride during the holiday party. Disney announced in the summer that the virtual queue (VQ) for the ride would be available during both Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party in 2023. We were able to use the VQ throughout the Halloween season, but will it be easy and seamless to use for the holidays? Let’s see!
During the holiday parties, the virtual queue opens at 6PM when the party officially begins. On November 9th, we were able to score a spot in the virtual queue right at 6.
To join the queue, you must have a valid Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Ticket linked to your My Disney Experience account. The process was easy for us and we were able to grab one the first time without any trouble, and were placed in Group 192. There were actually still available spots until around 6:17 — which is pretty impressive!
Our boarding group was called at around 9:50, and by then, we noticed that boarding groups had filled up for the evening.
Even if you receive a boarding group, you might not be called in time to ride before the party ends. Even after the boarding group is called, you still might end up waiting in a long physical queue once you arrive to the attraction.
We’ll keep you updated as the night goes on as to whether or not we’re able to ride! Make sure to follow along here at DFB for all things Disney and holiday news.

John says
Please tell me if you made it on Tron during the Christmas party
Pam says
If I ride Tron with the VQ during the day, can I still use the VQ to ride it again during MVMCP?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Pam! Yes! The VQ for the party is completely separate so you’ll want to grab the one for MVMCP at 6pm, but be ready to refresh at 5:59pm so you can get an early queue. When I was there on Thursday my boarding group was called at 7pm (I was #173) and the wait in line was about 50 minutes so also be prepared for that.
DFB Gigi says
Hi John! I was just at the Christmas Party on Thursday. At 6pm I got boarding group #173 and was called to get in line at 7pm. It took about 50 minutes to get through the queue and on and off the ride after that.
