Want to ramp up the cost of your Disney World vacation? There are plenty of pricey experiences you can add to your trip!
From stays at Deluxe Resorts to meals at signature restaurants, Disney offers quite a few luxury experiences. But if you’re heading to Disney World for the new year, then there’s one incredibly expensive addition you might want to know about!
Disney’s introducing a new one-night event at the Contemporary Resort — Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland! This New Year’s Eve party will take place at California Grill, and the price tag is a whopping $799 to attend.
So what exactly does this pricey experience entail? Well, for starters, you’ll be able to interact with some very rare characters. Disney says the following:
“Get your camera ready: you’ll come face-to-face with The Doorknob in the entryway. Then, keep your eyes peeled for Alice, The Mad Hatter, and The March Hare in the Dining Room. You may also get a chance to wave hello to Dinah the Hat Lady—but beware of the Queen of Hearts! It will surely be a merry party, complete with custom-crafted cocktails.”
The party also includes the White Rabbit as the DJ for the evening. And of course, you’ll ring in the new year with a champagne toast. Disney encourages partygoers to come dressed in their festive best!
But the real star of the night? The menu! Check out the lineup of eats that awaits:
Chilled Appetizer Station
- Chilled Seafood Bar
- Caviar
- Wagyu Beef Tartare
- Ice Wine Winter Salad
Wood-Burning Station
- Fungi Pizza
- Bianca Pizza
Sushi Station
- Maki
- Sashimi
- Nigiri
- A collection of original sushi creations
Hot Seafood Station
- Adobo Marinated Octopus
- Lobster Ravioli
- Seared Ahi Tuna
From the Grill and Rotisserie
- Pork Belly “Porchetta”
- Royal Beef Tenderloin
- Roasted Duck 2 Ways
Sweet Treats from the Pastry Chefs at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
- Pavlova
- Lemon-Thyme Shortbread
- Blackberry Lavender Tart
- Strawberry and Blackberry Mousse
That’s not even all of it! There will be more food available as you wander through the restaurant, dining at “food stations inspired by Lewis Carroll’s imaginative stories.”
When it’s time for the New Year’s fireworks, you’ll be able to watch them light up the sky at Magic Kingdom from California Grill’s private viewing deck. The event runs from 7:30PM to 12:30AM, but you can check in as early as 7PM.
It sounds like a stellar party, but is it really worth the nearly $800 price tag? You’ll have to decide that for yourself! More information can be found on the California Grill page on the Disney World website. To book, you’ll need to call (407) 824-2013.

Where were the NYE events last year?!
WDW skipped hosting NYE events last year and the negative feedback from guests like me must have been heard loud and clear.

I’m sure there will be plenty of people fussing and whining about this existing, but I think it sounds incredible! Exclusive special events are not a bad thing, regardless of how much some people harp on them. Disney is not forcing anybody to spend extra money and it’s not taking anything from anyone for those who are willing to spend this money to have a unique elevated experience to do so. I don’t understand the hypocrisy of people who will spend money to go to Disney that plenty of people would never have the opportunity to spend and they think that’s perfectly fine, but it’s offensive if there are other events or activities that they can’t afford. To believe that paying for a hotel room and park tickets should give you access to everything on property is ridiculous. YES this event is worth $800. It sounds absolutely amazing!!

We went to the NYE gala last year at the California Grill. It was awesome!!!! For the price, we thought it would be a one and done experience. However, guess what…..we are going again this year for the Alice In Wonderland Party. Expensive, yes definitely outrageous. However, it is worth every penny for the experience. I am excited to be attending this year again.

I want to surprise my wife with this for next year. How hard was it to get tickets?
Jeanne says
To get tickets you have to be on top of it. They have a waiting list. Just watch the Disney site starting in October to see when it opens. It’s like making dining reservations at the top restaurants in Disney. You can get in if you keep on top of it.
