Park Pass rules are CHANGING for Disney World in 2024, but until then, you’ll need to reserve your days to visit the parks!
But as we head into the holiday season, planning in advance is about to become much more important! Disney World typically gets rather busy during the Thanksgiving and Christmas season, and we’re already starting to see Park Passes sell out for key dates. Let’s check the availability!
First up, those staying at Disney Resorts and those with theme park tickets should be aware that EPCOT is now completely booked up for New Year’s Eve. It’s a popular park for that particular holiday, because they usually have special celebrations.
UPDATE: Disney is occasionally restocking park passes for this date — we’ve seen them come back and sell out a couple of times. Keep an eye on those passes and grab yours ASAP if you haven’t already!
If you’re an Annual Passholder and you’re not blocked out of the park, this date is still available for reservations.
That’s the only date for regular ticketholders to worry about so far, but if you’re an Annual Passholder, there’s a different story. Currently, Magic Kingdom is sold out for Passholders on both November 20th and December 19th. These dates fall during holiday breaks for many people, but right before blockout dates kick off for some of the pass tiers. Because of this, expect big crowds in the parks those days!
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the calendar and see what changes in the coming weeks and months, so stay tuned to DFB for all the updates! Happy holidays!

The rest of our group has not made reservations yet, went on this morning and sold out at Epcot on NYE. Do you think it may possibly open back up? If no, do you think if they got park hopper that they could get in later?
Wendy says
Hi, Connie! We have definitely seen park pass reservations open back up after being booked up for a time! The most recent time we saw this was in September for select previews for the new Moana attraction in EPCOT — when Disney announced that the previews required park passes, they booked up quickly, but then opened again for several days. And we saw it specifically happen for New Year’s Eve in 2021 (ringing in 2022)… so it’s for sure worth a shot to keep checking! As far as park hopping on New Year’s Eve, EPCOT does tend to reach capacity quickly for New Year’s Eve, and I imagine that would affect park hopping as well. So, I think it’s a good idea to keep checking for passes (daily, if at all possible) over these next weeks, and having the possibility of Park Hopping as a back up plan (and perhaps having a personal back up plan for other options in case EPCOT reaches capacity). I hope I explained that well, feel free to ask if I can clarify anything! And good luck :)!

I wonder if it is a good thing or a bad thing I picked EPCOT for NYE instead of a different park for our 1 day in EPCOT. Sounds like it will be crazy busy that day.
Wendy says
Hi, Edward! Well, there is no doubt that it will be busy, but I hope this helps you feel more excited… while I have not personally experienced New Year’s Eve at EPCOT (I’ve opted for Magic Kingdom previously, but would love to try EPCOT sometime), I have several friends who have rung in the New Year at EPCOT and say it’s an unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime way to do it — they rave about the fireworks for the midnight celebration, and typically EPCOT also has unique celebrations going on in some of the individual country pavilions. They did share that getting out of EPCOT that night can take some time (ditto for 4th of July), so it’s good to be mentally prepared for that aspect. But none of them regret celebrating NYE at EPCOT, if that’s helpful to hear :)!

I just looked at the calendar and all parks are available for New Years Eve.

Thank you so much, Sharon :)!
