Big things are happening in Disney World, people!
The EPCOT Transformation will be complete by the end of this year according to Disney, plus 2024 will also usher in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in Magic Kingdom. But, those aren’t the only projects on the horizon as we just found a few new permits that hint to some pretty big changes in Disney World.
We take a look at permits recently filed by Disney to get an idea of what might be in store for the parks and more, and here’s what we found this time around.
Hollywood Studios
Hollywood Studios is home to quite a few problem rides if you catch our drift. But, one that has failed to receive any sort of major overhaul since it opened could be getting an upgrade soon — we think. A new permit was filed for “general construction,” and the address on that permit appears to match up with Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster has infamously broken down for several days in a row in the past, and a lengthy refurbishment came to the ride earlier in 2023. Back in July of 2022, a Cast Member told us that the ride hasn’t had a full refurbishment since the parks reopened in 2020. Of course, this general construction permit certainly doesn’t mean this attraction will be getting an overhaul, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for any updates that might impact your trip.
EPCOT
It’s no secret that EPCOT is going through some changes, but a few new permits mean the work isn’t quite done just yet! The EPCOT parking lot might be getting some more new signs soon, as we found two permits related to work that might be done in that area. One is specifically for the Moana section of the parking lot, so keep an eye out for changes there!
The EPCOT security office will also be getting an upgrade soon — we found a permit for general construction that matches up with that area.Â
And, get ready for some exciting new changes in the China Pavilion… maybe! This permit we spotted only points to general construction in this area, which really could mean anything — even something small like changing out a sign or switching some wiring around.
It’s possible we wouldn’t even notice what it is, but we’ll keep an eye out and let you know of any changes.
Disney Springs
Over in Disney Springs, a new permit was filed for general construction for Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar as well. This Indiana Jones-themed bar serves up delicious drinks and light bites, and it may have something else exciting to check out soon too — we’re just not quite sure what yet!

I’d honestly like to see Aerosmith replaced on the Rockin Rollercoaster. I feel like they’re not really realavent at this point. I can’t imagine many people under 50 are big fans. I’m 40 and feel like yeah, they’re well known from back in the day, but didn’t really hold up. Not like some classic bands still pulling in young listeners.

It’s time for a complete re-theming of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. While I grew up with Aerosmith, they just aren’t relevant any longer. There are very few bands in history like The Beatles who remain relevant forever. Keeping Aerosmith in place here just dates the attraction. I’d love to see The Muppets Electric Mayhem arrive.

Please tell me you’re not hoping for it to change too “The Hip-Hop Rollercoaster featuring Taylor Swift”.

LOVE, LOVE, AEROSMITH. BUT IF THERE WERE ANY BAND TO REPLACE THEM IT WOULD BE THE ROLLING STONES!!!
