Spending the holidays at Disney World is super magical, until it’s not.
While typically, a bit of rain doesn’t affect park operations (it’s Central Florida, after all), there are instances when the rain can really put a damper on your magical vacation. Exhibit A: Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Yes, heavy rain can fully STOP the party from happening. This happened on November 16th, when the rain was so heavy that Cast Members stopped allowing folks into the party and marked the event as ‘rained out’ at around 8:30PM. All parades, fireworks, and meet and greets for the night were cancelled. Folks in the park said that the line for Guest Relations started at City Hall and went all the way back to Cinderella Castle, because they wanted their refunds! Well, if you were at the November 16th event and got rained out, we have good news.Â
A lot of folks who got rained out at the party reported that on November 17th, they woke up to a FREE one-day park hopper ticket valid until November 15th, 2024.
While no, this isn’t the same as experiencing the Christmas party, it seems Disney is trying to provide some kind of experience redemption of similar value.
Hey, maybe these folks could add an extra day to their future vacations!Â
If you were at the November 16th party, make sure to check your My Disney Experience app to see if you’ve received a park hopper ticket. If not, we’d suggest going to Guest Relations at any of the parks or in Disney Springs to see what they can do. Of course, we can’t guarantee anything, but from what we’ve seen, Cast Members have done their best in the past to help people out in these kinds of situations.
Make sure to follow along for more so that you’re always in the loop!

We were there, I’ve never seen so much rain over Disney!
We didn’t complain since all the attractions were open and the wait times were less than 15 minutes, but it’s a nice gesture from them!
Only thing I found lackluster was the fireworks show, the castle was completely dark, but not sure if it was because of the weather or because the special show it’s only fireworks and no projections.
Christine says
We were there. On the way out at Guest Relations they were offering full refunds so we took that option.
Matthew says
At least they’re trying to make adjustments to compensate for the rain. However, I’ll never understand why we never see Anna & Elsa during rainy parades. They’re not in the rainy day cavalcade and not in the rainy Christmas parade. Anna & Elsa and Frozen are my and many other people’s favorite part of the parade. My family looks forward to the parades to see Anna & Elsa. My little sister loves them. I hope we can see Elsa & Anna in their iconic Frozen 1 outfits & hairstyles for all the parades, including the rainy ones.
Andrea says
That’s fine for Americans who visit frequently but no good for international visitors who save for years for just one trip.
Deb says
Another Disney fail. The party isn’t cheap and if you are an annual pass holder, what good is it? If you are on a week vacation and have your tickets already what good is it? Then Disney wonders why people have had it with Disney .
Eddie says
We were at EPCOT that night, being pelted with non stop monsoon level rain… With no refund.
It was awful.
Lyn says
While it is a nice gesture. I certainly hope that international travellers git their money back. We luckily had tickets for the night before, but that rain would certainly have ruined why we came to Disney for our ine and only trip.
Christine Ritchie says
We stopped by guest relations on our way out and they offered a refund. Our free party tickets had shown up but they disappeared after the refunds were processed.
Sarah says
I was there. We had a day pass as well so we got to the park quite early. I saw the line going all the way back to Cinderella Castle. I decided not to get in that line as my father was really tired from being out in the rain all day long. However, our next day we were at Disney springs and I talked to guest relations there. They were authorized to give refunds for the party. So I was able to get a refund
Jane says
I was at the MVMCP that night and it was pretty awful. I didn’t know the weather could be so bad in Florida for so many hours/days. I was happy to find the free ticket in my app – but I also need to experience that party again. It was a FLOP. Disney made it better and I didn’t have to wait in line at guest relations!
