One of our favorite character meals in Disney World has CHANGED!
We love visiting Garden Grill in EPCOT, where we can enjoy a homestyle feast while visiting with Farmer Mickey and his pals. Plus, the entire restaurant ROTATES, giving visitors a view of the Living with the Land attraction. It doesn’t get much cooler than that. But is this spot still a must-visit after a few changes just hit the menu?
We noticed several menu changes at Garden Grill. Here’s a look at what happened:
Breakfast
REMOVED:
- Cinnamon Breakfast Loaf
- Scrambled Eggs
- Mickey-shaped Waffles with Syrup
- Cheesy Potato Casserole
- Grilled Flank Steak with Ranchero Sauce
- Fresh Sliced Watermelon (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Home Fries (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
ADDED:
- Breakfast Pastry
- Mickey-shaped Waffles
- Backyard Grilled Steak
- Scrambled Free-range Eggs
- Skillet Potatoes
- Seasonal Fruit (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Skillet Potatoes (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Citrus Freeze
So some of the things were actually changed, and others were just removed, re-worded, and added back in.
The scrambled eggs are still there, and so are the Mickey-shaped waffles. It looks like the potatoes might no longer be cheesy, and instead of just watermelon in the plant-based meal, it’ll be seasonal fruit.
Also, the Cinnamon Breakfast Loaf was replaced by a Breakfast Pastry, and the steak is now Backyard Grilled Steak instead of Grilled Flank Steak with Ranchero Sauce.
Lunch/Dinner
REMOVED:
- Grilled Beef with Chimichurri
- Barbecue-roasted Chicken
- Creamy Mashed Potatoes
- Southern-style Spoon Bread
- Berry Short Cake
- Garden Salad (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Veggie Loaf with Chunky Tomato Sauce (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Rice Pilaf (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Garden-fresh Vegetables (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Berry Short Cake (from the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Louis M. Martini Cabernet Sauvignon, Sonoma County
- Opici Family Red Sangria
ADDED:
- Cornbread
- Carrots & Celery
- Backyard Grilled Steak
- Rotisserie-roasted Turkey
- Home-style Mashed Potatoes
- Farm Fresh Green Beans
- Farmer’s Seasonal Pie
- Harvest Garden Salad (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Carrots & Celery (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Smoked “Sausage” (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Pulled “Pork” with Southern BBQ Sauce (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Home-style Mashed Potatoes (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Farm Fresh Green Beans (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Seasonal Vegetables (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Chocolate Pie in a Jar (to the Plant-based Harvest Feast)
- Mimosa
- Bloody Mary
Like breakfast, this meal had some items changed and others just re-worded. The most exciting change here is that the turkey is BACK! We used to love the turkey when it was originally on the menu, but last year Disney swapped it out for the Barbecue-roasted Chicken. We were sad to see one of our favorite menu items go, so we’re excited that it’s finally back.
The steak has also changed, from Grilled Beef with Chimichurri to Backyard Grilled Steak. Mashed potatoes are staying on the menu, but the spoon bread has been replaced by cornbread.
We’re a little worried about this next change: Our beloved Berry Short Cake has been replaced by Farmers Seasonal Pie. We LOVED that shortcake! We certainly hope that the new pie is delicious, but we’ll be missing that tasty dessert.
Disney also added some veggies to the lunch and dinner options, including carrots, celery, and green beans.
The plant-based menu saw lots of big changes, with Smoked “Sausage” and Pulled “Pork” replacing the Veggie Loaf and Rice Pilaf. There’s a new Chocolate Pie in a Jar on the plant-based menu, too.

That lunch/dinner meal sounds more like what they used to do, no? Sounds like food my kids would eat, we’ll have to head there next time!

But WHY! I ate here for breakfast in June for the first time and made a reservation to eat there again in January. Will definitely be cancelling. The cheeses potatos, loaf and steak were enough to get me to come back. Not anymore.
