Well, it’s finally here. The holidays have arrived at Disney World!
It means things are getting SUPER busy in the parks. We’ve already seen some park pass reservations completely gone for the week. We’ve seen record-high prices for Genie+. But there’s another thing you may NOT be thinking of that you need to consider this week: when to order food via Mobile Order.
Mobile Order is now available at a majority of Disney World quick service restaurants, and it’s generally a good way to save a lot of time standing in line for food. However, when things get busy in Disney World, Mobile Order could present a big problem. You might find yourself waiting a long time for food. Let us show you what we mean.
Depending on where you plan on eating, you could have a wait of over 100 minutes. We saw this recently when we checked Mobile Order around lunchtime. We checked out the Mobile Order process at Woody’s Lunch Box in Disney’s Hollywood Studios around lunchtime and noticed that the wait was estimated at 76-106 minutes. 106 minutes! That’s a long time to wait for Totchos.
So what can you do to avoid such a long wait? Well, the best thing you should do is think ahead! Know where you want to Mobile Order much earlier in the day and get that order in — remember, you can set a later pick-up time so that you can pick your food up when you’re ready to eat. It does require some commitment to eating at a specific place but trust us — this will save you a LOT of time later.
This will be the case at a LOT of counter service restaurants in Disney World during the busy holiday season, so figure out those dining options BEFORE lunch or dinner. Seriously, you can thank us later.
We’ll be keeping an eye on the Disney World crowds throughout Thanksgiving weekend, so stay tuned to DFB for more.

I have successfully used mobile order but also run into things like a two hour wait for our food window. In that case – which was at Woody’s Lunch Box, I walked over to the Toy Story area and eyeballed the lines. Walked up to the CM, said I had not done mobile order, could I please just order from him (Yes!), and 10 minutes later, I was holding our lunches on a tray searching for a table. I find mobile order works great at our resort for dinner after a day in the parks (we stay at Music usually). I get my son settled in the room, we decide what we want, and I place the order, then head to the food court. Never had to wait more than a couple of minutes and often it is all ready for me when I arrive.
