We know what you’re thinking after reading that title.
Does it EVER get cooler at Disney World?! Well, there are several days throughout November through February that it can get pretty chilly out — especially in the mornings and after the sun sets. When this happens, you’ll see a few things around the parks start to change just a little bit. Let’s talk about it!
There are four things that you can expect to happen as soon as those temperatures drop.
Characters and Cast Members get warmer clothes!
Yes, in the winter, you’ll see characters and Cast Members with slightly different looks! We saw the Step Sisters walking around Magic Kingdom in their warm and cozy long sleeves.
Iconic Cast Member costumes throughout the parks will be complemented in the winter with the addition of coats! One of our favorite wintertime looks is for the Haunted Mansion maids. They’ll wear either a short overcoat with lace trim that looks like something out of an American Girl Doll catalogue, or they’ll wear a long cloak that looks perfectly Harry Potter-esque. It’s so fun! Oh, and you might even see the parade performers sporting warmer looks.

There’s an emphasis on hot beverages!
Throughout the hot months, you’ll see water stands to stay cool and help you stay hydrated. In the winter, however, the emphasis is put on staying warm.
Hot chocolate is sometimes offered at quick service locations as an extra lil offering to stay warm and cozy! Keep an eye out for signs advertising hot cocoa at places that don’t usually serve it!
The camels stop spitting!
The camels! You know the ones. On and nearby the Magic Carpets of Aladdin ride, you’ll typically find spitting camels that will leave unlucky riders with a wet head.
In the winter, these camels stop their spitting. Much appreciated from most of us!
You’ll find stands selling hats and gloves.
In the summer, you’ll find cooling towels and fans that are for sale at stands around the parks.
In the winter, you’ll find hats and gloves instead! Oh, and sometimes, merchandise locations will put out extra racks of sweatshirts and hoodies because they anticipate that folks might be chilly.
And there you have it! While these super chilly days are rare throughout the year, they definitely DO happen throughout the typical winter months. Make sure you prepare for these occurrences and dress in layers, because although it might be super chilly with the sun down or not quite up yet, it can get up to the high 70s at midday.
