Universal has BIG news to share!
It wasn’t too long ago that Universal released a TON of news to us about new parks in Texas, Las Vegas, and the upcoming Epic Universe in Florida; and while we’ve seen a difference in construction in Orlando, there’s not been much more news for the other parks… until NOW!
We’ve been in the dark about the upcoming expansion of Universal Parks and Resorts and now we’re getting a few pieces of the puzzle! Universal has taken to Instagram to debut the official name of the immersive kids theme park that will be built in Frisco, Texas: Universal Kids Resort.
Their post went on to caption the logo announcing, “We are excited to introduce Universal Kids Resort, the company’s first-ever theme park designed specifically for families with young children. This imaginative, original resort brings the company’s innovative style of storytelling to a new, younger audience.”
The post also included a statement from Molly Murphy, president of Universal Creative, expressing her excitement for the immersive storytelling and imaginative discovery play they hope will be received by young children and their families warmly.
The next photo that was included depicts updated artist concepts of the new park, which includes notable changes from the original concept art. Here we see differences in almost every corner of the park — most noticeably the entranceway now missing the giant DreamWorks sign. We’re also seeing more water area, and toned-down theming in some of the lands.
If you’re having a hard time remembering what the first concept looked like, here’s a picture for reference.
We’re not certain if this new design is the final rendering for the park or if plans could change as they continue with the buildout of Universal Kids Resort.
Additionally, it seems that Universal has already begun filing trademark applications associated with Universal Kids Resort. The purpose of these filings were noted for use in theme parks and amusement parks, as well as for clothing, souvenirs, books, and other merchandise.
This is a very exciting time for Universal and we’re eager to see the progress on Universal Kids Resort as it comes to reality. Make sure you’re following us for the latest in news and updates coming to Universal.

Ronjon says
Seems more of a Hotel Resort than a actual Theme Park. Lot’s of activities, but they didn’t mention any rides. So is it really considered a triditional “Theme Park” as we know it?
