How are you going to ring in the new year?
If you’re going to be spending New Year’s at Disney World, you probably won’t be alone, but you’re also in store for a good time!
Disney World has PLENTY to offer on both New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day, and for some of it, you don’t even need a park ticket or reservation. Let’s take a look!
Magic Kingdom
For this activity, you WILL need a park ticket and reservation, but that’s the only spending you need to do — we promise! That’s because watching Magic Kingdom fireworks doesn’t cost anything extra! What better time to watch fireworks at Disney World than New Year’s Eve?
With the rare fireworks show Fantasy in the Sky returning for two days only this year, experiencing New Year’s Eve in Magic Kingdom and taking part in the countdown to the new year is an extra special way to close out 2023.
(And if you absolutely, positively do NOT want to spend money, then you can catch these from the Polynesian Village Resort Beach free of charge.)
EPCOT
EPCOT, unsurprisingly, can be a VERY FUN place to be on New Year’s Eve. If high-octane environments and festive spirits are calling your name, then you should make your way to EPCOT before the Ball drops. EPCOT usually features DJs and dance parties at several pavilions at World Showcase, making it one of the biggest New Year’s parties around. We’re still expecting official word on special events and fireworks (they usually add a New Year’s tag to the fireworks that is MASSIVE!), but since there will be a brand new show happening this year, we’ll let you know as soon as there is an update.
Disney Springs
Now we’re getting into some of the great stuff you can do for New Year’s without a theme park ticket! At Disney Springs, we’re still learning about special restaurant offerings and events (which we will update you on regularly), but we already know about a popular New Year’s Day event at City Works Eatery & Pour House. The premier Disney Springs sports restaurant and bar is hosting its signature Rock N Roll brunch on January 1st, featuring mimosa flights and classic brunch favorites with twists. One example is the Sweet Child O’ Mine — a brioche French toast stuffed with mixed berry compote and topped with powdered sugar and Bailey’s cream cheese. Yum!
Disney World Resort Hotels
Another thing you can do to celebrate New Year’s without a park ticket is to experience what the Disney World hotels have to offer. If you’re staying on property, it’s likely that your hotel has something going on (which you can find on an activity guide at the front desk). For example, California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort is hosting Alice’s Whimsical World of Wonderland, an Alice in Wonderland-themed New Year’s Eve party. The event costs a whopping $799(!!!) and will feature dance music from DJ White Rabbit, a champagne toast at midnight, and spectacular views of Magic Kingdom’s Fantasy in the Sky fireworks show.
As we get closer to the New Year’s festivities, we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date on all the special events. As always, stay tuned here at DFB for all the latest Disney World news, tips, and reviews!
