There are new things popping up at Disney World seemingly every day.
In order for all this change to happen, though, we sometimes have to say goodbye. Over the years, we’ve bid our farewells to attractions, shops, and even restaurants. Over the past couple years in particular, though, there have been several temporary closures for Disney World restaurants, and even a few permanent closures, or closures that happened a WHILE ago but still haven’t reopened. Let’s talk about it!
These five Disney World restaurants were confirmed to be permanently closed, or have been closed for the past few years.
Tokyo Dining
In early 2023, Tokyo Dining in the Japan Pavilion of EPCOT closed for what many of us thought was a temporary closure for refurbishment.
However, the eatery didn’t come back at all and was replaced with Shiki-Sai Sushi Izakaya in the fall.
Trail’s End (Table Service)
Trail’s End Restaurant at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground closed in the spring of 2023 for refurbishment.
The restaurant re-opened in July 2023, and the restaurant as we knew it was gone! Instead of a table-service eatery, it is now a quick-service restaurant.Â
These next three restaurants have temporarily closed, but there’s still a good chance that they’ll reopen in the future!
1900 Park Fare and Garden View Tea Room
After the 2020 closures due to the pandemic, there were two spots at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort that never opened back up. 1900 Park Fare and Garden View Tea Room.
Disney hasn’t yet said whether or not these two will reopen or if they’re closed for good. Currently, the Tea Room is being used as a game and movie room. When they do reopen, we can probably expect them to be updated!
Restaurant Marrakesh
Similar to the aforementioned eateries, Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion of EPCOT closed in 2020 and has yet to open.
Since its closure, the area has been used as a relaxation station and a lounge, but not a restaurant. There’s also no word on when or if we can expect the restaurant to return.Â
We’ll be sure to let you know if we hear word on the last three restaurants, so make sure to follow along so that you don’t miss anything!

Before Tokyo Dining was a small bar with a minimal sushi menu. Was a great place. Do not remember if it had a name but it had the same view as shiki-sai.

Restaurant Marrakesh in the Morocco Pavilion of EPCOT was a Great Loss and needs to come back !! Food was Exceptional and the Service was Amazing !! If the restaurant’s entertainment is a hold-up then do away with it, don’t really need it !! Will be waiting to hear ……

If I recall correctly, the company that managed and ran Restaurant Marrakesh either ended their contract or HAD their contract with Disney ended. I remember some confusion about which side was to blame.
Disney apparently doesn’t want to take the time and effort to create a new fine dining Moroccan restaurant, and hasn’t found a chef/company willing to do so either.
