A NEW fireworks show is now in EPCOT!
Disney announced that the new nighttime spectacular Luminous, which was created to celebrate the company’s 100th anniversary, would debut on December 5th, 2023, and we’ve got a FIRST LOOK at the show!
Luminous — The Symphony of Us is the new nighttime spectacular in EPCOT.
The show features fireworks, fountains, lasers, lighting effects, and lots of Disney music. Let’s take a look!
The show starts with voices around World Showcase welcoming you to the event. The first song that plays is “You’ll Be In My Heart” from Tarzan.

Then, the new song “Heartbeat Symphony” plays! New songs bookend the performance, with “Heartbeat Symphony” at the beginning and “Beating of Our Hearts” at the end.
The fireworks and various other effects in World Showcase Lagoon match the music.
The fountains in the middle are lit up in colored lights during the show, too!
Here’s a full list of the Disney songs that play during the show:
- “You’ll Be in My Heart”
- “Proud Corazón”
- “You’ve Got a Friend in Me”
- “Friend Like Me”
- “So Close” (from Enchanted)
- “When She Loved Me”
- “Remember Me”
- “Into the Unknown”
- “I See the Light”
The big finale features another new original song, “Beating of Our Hearts.” This song was created by Disney with Pinar Toprak and features vocal artists Sheléa and Katharine McPhee.

One of our favorite things about the new show is that you can get a good view from pretty much any of the World Showcase pavilions. With Harmonious, it was a little bit tricky to get the best view, as the animations projected on the water were only visible from certain angles. That wasn’t an issue with this new show, although you’ll still want to find a spot where you can get a clear view of the center of World Showcase Lagoon for the parts of the show that just feature lasers and water features.
We LOVED the music during the show and thought it was a cool mix of the aesthetic of Illuminations with the musicality of Harmonious and the fun laser light effects of Happily Ever After.
Lots of the people around us enjoyed the show as well, although we heard several people comment that they missed the visual storytelling element of Harmonious. Although many people said they didn’t love having the barges in the middle of the Lagoon all the time, the barges provided a space for more projections and animation, whereas this show does not have that.
Currently, Luminous begins each night at 9:30PM. Starting on January 1st, the showtime will change to 9PM nightly.
Luminous isn’t the only new thing in EPCOT — the World Celebration Gardens also opened on December 5th…
…and the “Walt the Dreamer” statue was unveiled the same day.
The new glowing sidewalks also debuted on the 5th!
It’s been a BIG day for EPCOT, and we’re so happy to see some more construction walls come down.

Everything that is gone all of a sudden becomes so wonderful yet all everyone did before was complain that it wasn’t as good as what it replaced. There was constant complaining about Harmonious and the barges as soon as the barges were installed. Now people complain that there aren’t enough projections. You can’t have it both ways people.

Thank you for the updates at EPCOT. Yes we are planning to see the new night time show this month as well as The Candlelight Processional.
My question to you is if I have a park hopper pass on Dec 24 starting at EPCOT what are my chances of getting into MK at 2:00 for a few hours before going back to EPCOT for nighttime shows? Do you think MK has a chance to sell out and then do they not let park hopping at 2:00 if a sell out?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Kimberly! We have rarely seen it, but it is possible that the park will reach capacity so if you’re really wanting to end your night at a certain park, I don’t know that I’d want to risk not being let in just in case.
Tina says
How long of a show is Luminous?
DFB Gigi says
Hi Tina! Luminous is 18 minutes long.
